Via their Facebook, Stone Liquor in Covina is having a cellar sale this coming Saturday morning (7/12). He's got some photos up of some pretty limited offerings including beers that are without a doubt beers he's landed in trades, or gifts from out of state (FFF, HF stuff, etc.)

Anyone gonna be checking this out? Anyone a regular there that may be familiar with how he prices these releases? I'm typically against paying a huge markup for someone else to cellar my beer and sell it to me a year, 2 years later. As far as out of market stuff, I suppose a small markup is ok to cover what it would cost in shipping to acquire said beers but that's about it.

Expect 200 -300% Mark up. That's what it usually is there with out of distro stuff

Edit: I bought a few brother soigne and they were $25. Arthur was $30 or $33 I think

Wondering how much that DDG will be? I was actually thinking of going but I'm worried that the interesting stuff will not be in multiples...

I hope they get in trouble from the ABC for the dickbag prices they'll be charging. I wonder how old the out of distro IPAs are?

I know, man. I hate when someone goes through the effort to acquire a product that isn't normally available in my distribution network, and then has the balls to resell it for above its standard retail value. Bunch of assholes.

I get that they have to mark some prices up to cover shipping, but their prices are insulting.

$15 for a single can of Heady plus they make you buy something else... Since when does shipping a 4 pack cost 45 bucks?

I once paid 27 for a Mocha Abduction, and that was only because it was my cousins birthday and he really wanted it.

I know him and a friend do shop there and pay those prices, but they don't trade. So there are definetly people that are paying those prices. Supply and demand I guess.

That being said- I don't think I'll be attending.

This reminds me of Walnut Liquorette... I dropped in for the first time this past weekend for a quick beer run. I heard they had a good selection of craft brews, so I went. When I got there, first thing I noticed were all the 2014 FW lineup (Sucaba, Parabola, Stickee Monkee, etc.). Then I looked at the price and they were all $30 each... INSANE!!! These are socal distro's!!! If these were 2012's or older, then I can understand the upcharge, but these are all current. I also saw a few Fyodor's Classic for $25 a piece. I ended up buying a few Modern Times & some Ruintens and walked out. That was the last time I'll ever walk in that place again.

Must be a great store that does big business with their distributors lol. If you can't create hype with beers you got legitimately then you fail.

Why shop there based on grey market prices? As long as the guy isn't making up in distribution stuff then shopping there isn't any worse than anywhere else.

Most of the LA stores selling grey market stuff aren't selling limited releases and its still at a big markup. A grey market limited release like Dark Lord is probably going to be like $50

I wish we got rid of these completely idiotic liquor laws that make you go through a distributor so there would be more competition. That would fix all the price issues instantly.

Yeah it was probably pretty stupid to promote illegal activity online.

I might take a trip out there if I have nothing else to do. If the bottles are priced like they would price bottle sales at a bar, might pick up a couple and share the cost with a friend or two
