Avery Old Jubilation must be on this list. Great for the cellar.

Old Stock indeed! just picked up the 2012 and now have a 6 year vertical. I disagree Burton Baton being in this category however i have aged it and like it with at least 1.5- 2 yrs on it. Thomas Hardys is excellent to age, recently had a 20 yr old bottle and was fantastic. I have a few hibernations from october left over and interested to see how that goes.

I agree with the first two, I also like that Bourbon barrel aged beer by founders, you know the one that has that old Lord of The Rings Looking like guy. I know its a scotch ale but it might as well be an old ale.

Why move Third coast to the Barleywine thread. It is called an Old ale, and one could argue that the diffference between old ale and Barleywine is subtle at best, I would vote for combining the two threads into cellar Worthy Old Ale's/ Barleywines.

I have not cellared to many old ale's at this point, but just had a year old 2010 Alesmith Decadence that was phenomenal I greatly preferred it to the fresh bottle I drank.

I'd also like to place votes for Third Coast Old Ale, North Coast Old Ale, Founder's Curmudgeon Old Ale, Fuller's Vintage Ale, Harviestoun Ola Dubh (all of them), and add Sierra Nevada Life and Limb (and 2). I know 2 hasn't been out that long, but I'm noticing subtle changes that I have been enjoying, and feel that its melding together nicely.

I've been waiting for Smutty to send over some of this beer to CA ever since they started distro here. They're taking freakin forever!

And man... can't believe it's been 3 years already since this thread! Nice resurrecting!

Bell's Old ale is what got me started in cellaring beers. A friend and I tried a 1 or 2 year old one compared to a fresh one and it was amazing to us at the time to see how much flavors can change. This led me to accumulate many (too many) beers for experimentation. My absolute favorite this far as far as old ales go is regular 4D. I've done 4 year verticals and the older the better IMO. I have some 2010 and it is drinking fantasticly right now. I've compared it to aged BB4D and I prefer the regular. The 2012 BB4D that I have has lost a lot of its bourbon character.

+1 for Curmudgeon. Not a fan fresh, but I had it with 3 years on it and it had developed this nice "peanut brittle" note to it. Worth sticking a few in the cellar every now and again.

Southern Tier Old Man Winter is a nice candidate too, doesn't see much love but it's great at 2+ years. I'll also throw in:

    Fuller's 1845
    Robinson's Old Tom
    Theakston Old Peculiar

All excellent English examples that hold up well.
