I recently came into possession of two bottles of Anchorage Galaxy White IPA. Even though the page on BA notes that it's not ideal for extended cellaring, that badge seems to be assigned based on general style, rather than being specific to the beer.

Given that Anchorage bottles pretty much everything they produce with Brett, I figured some of their beers might be candidates for aging even if they aren't a traditional "age-able" style.

Has anyone tried cellaring either the Galaxy White IPA or the Whiteout Wit? I have 2 bottles of Galaxy, and one remaining bottle of Whiteout. Since they are a little difficult to get here in Kansas City, I don't want to waste my time and great beer. Any input is much appreciated.

Galaxy White doesn't age well, based on my experience -- at a recent tasting, a year-old bottle was drain-poured. I haven't had aged Whiteout.

Bitter Monk ages incredibly well -- and is also killer fresh. It seems to peak for the brett character at about 6 months.

No experience with aging Tide and its Takers or Love Buzz, either.

I've only had good experiences with Anchorage Brewing's Bitter Monk. As stated above the brett gets mouth numbing between 6-8 months. I have high hopes for a few of these long term. No experience with Galaxy White or Whiteout Wit.

Tide and it's Takers was just ok with about 1.5 years on it. I'd probably stick with that one fresh.

I've been meaning to check these guys out, but all I've seen is some Galaxy White that's been sitting around for way too long.

I've had a Tide and Its Takers for like, 6 months.. Haven't had the right time to drink it yet, but I feel like it might go tonight.. I'm bummed I've waited this long.

That's great to hear. I have a bottle of BM that I sort of forgot to drink and is approaching a year old now. It was incredible when I first had it at about three months old, so nice to know it holds up. I assume the bright, citrusy hop notes have faded though right?

I have to disagree with you; sorry. Recently drank some Galaxy which I've aged for around 18 months (in my beer fridge, set at around 45f). The brett character is really starting to shine through, so much more than when it was at 12 months. I was sad this was my last bottle as I'd love to have seen how it progressed in another 6 to 12 months. Oh, and there is still a crap load of carbonation in the bottle!!!
