I have been wondering the best way to cellar my higher end ales and right now I have them in cool, dark place in my room. Temperature is probably around 55 degrees or so which is ideal. However, what is the best thing to do once warm weather hits again? Input please!

A lot of people have really cool set-ups with chest freezers that have external temperature control units hooked up, and they built their own shelving on the inside..... really neat stuff that I'm sure someone else may have more details on.

But if you're lazy like me, you can just purchase a wine cooler, as these are meant to hold temps around 48-60 usually. I managed to find one that can handle both 22-oz bottles as well as 12-oz bottle no problem. Mini-fridges can also be used, but some of them may not reach temps that high, and so a temp control would be needed again.

    Anyway, good luck!

I haven't wanted to get a cooler like that until I have a place I can settle in for a few years. The basement floor is a perfect place for mine. During the summer the air temp was around 60-65. With the floor acting as a heat sink, the beers stayed at around 55 or so which I'm assuming is perfect. Just make sure you put a blanket over them or block any sunlight that might peek through the basement windows.

Your bedroom is 55F? That's damn cold!

Wine fridge, chest freezer with temp controller, mini fridge, pro cooler, full size fridge or underground cellar/basement. Choose your favorite.

55 degrees? That dude can't have a girlfriend who stays over!

    My experience with women:
    67 degrees = too cold; 68 = too hot

Anything under 80 is to cold to my girl. I keep the house at 62 in the winter.....
