Anyone tried it after 6 months to a year? It's not that hard to get so it's hard to resist opening right away.

I'm pretty sure the one I got from the store was at least 6 months old and it was fantastic. Didn't see a date on it. Buy two and cellar one. Most beers like this one age nicely.

I drank one that was a year old - very, very good.

It is a coffee-forward, barrel-aged beer. Wouldn't be my prime candidate for cella ring, but it should hold up....

I have literally only had BBB at a year old, 3 times in 3 years. Coffee is still very prominent, but the integration and balance of barrel flavors is just simply outstanding after the age. I have never had it fresh so I really can't lend a comparison. I may have to do that with the newest batch that just flooded the market. I can always grab another to continue aging :grinning:

I just had a bottle of #10 bottled November 2012 last night and all my friends agreed it was incredible. The coffee flavor was still surprisingly strong and the whiskey/bourbon flavors melded beautifully. I have another bottle of #10 that I am going to save for this time next year. Should be a real treat.

Batch #22 was actually the first beer I started my cellar with. It was fantastic. I had it next to this years with some friends. As delicious as it is fresh it definitely does get better after 1 year.

You can look up the batch number on their website, will tell you when it was brewed and bottled.

Great feedback. I'm gonna pick another up and squirrel it away

I just drank one over a year old. Coffee was still very prevalent little less boozy than when it was fresh...did very very well in the cellar

I have one a little over a year old still cellaring. If I find another one I will pop this open and finally give it a try. I had it fresh and it was delicious

I had one and then laid down a couple because I thought the coffee was WAAYY over the top! And I LOVE coffee. I am hoping that will mellow a bit.

Fresh I've always found it a tad disappointing as there's that earthy taste to it and whiskey is hardly to be found. Just recently had the same batch a year later and the flavors blended together much better and was fantastic. Coffee doesn't fade fast on this beer so age away.

I just had my first bottle of the stuff the other day, batch #31. I think it could use a year or two of age on it, even if that sacrifices some of those great coffee notes.

Cellar that bad boy up to two years. Still will be some coffee and the rye stands out more as well as the base stout.
