Last year at The Festival of The Dark Arts at Fort George, they released a Rum Barrel version of their Cavatica Stout in a four pack of 16 oz cans. I've only opened one - one year after the fest - and it was way better than I remembered being...

Does anyone else have any experience cellaring canned beer? Do the same rules apply? How long do you think I should hold on to them?

Cans do even better, zero light.

Several years ago I had a 3 year vertical of Ten Fidy cans at a restaurant...and couldn't taste any difference between the three.

Ten Fidy at a year is UNREAL. Lots of port characteristics emerge.

My question is, why would you question can aging? We all know it's a better seal with less possible oxidization and zero chance of light, seems like it wouldn't even come up that cans will age just as good if not better than bottles.

I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with cellaring cans... I'd never heard of anyone else doing it.

Yep, Ten Fidy is a great one to try in the cellar.

Alchemist latest version of Luscious was canned with aging in mind

This is off their blog, They are talking about the O2 levels when they canned the beer.

"Its dissolved oxygen levels were consistently in the 20-30 ppb range. This may or may not mean anything to you, but it does to us. You will be able to age this beer in your fridge for as long as you want"

My local bottle shop had some Ten Fidy canned in October up on a top shelf. Going to go back and pick up a few more to cellar for a few more months since it already has some age on it.
