    Hey all,

Just curious as to what your thoughts are on cellaring Allagash's Mattina Rossa... or for how long? The beer is corked, so I imagine there is some expectation to age, but so much fruit in the beer makes me think it might be better a bit fresh.

    Cheers!

It will age nicely, but it really depends on what you are wanting out of the beer. Drink now if you want the bright sweet raspberry notes. Wait a bit if you want it to be more tart.

Anyone crack a bottle from past vintages? Or was it even bottled?

Hasnt this beer been sitting in barrels for at least two years? I dont know....i think this beer is ready to roll. The only way id consider aging is if i bought two and just liked to expirament.

They tried to make it once before but ended up not releasing it because it wasnt carbonating in every bottle. So this year's release is the first release.

I had one in December of 2014 from the previous batch and thought it was amazing. I don't know if it was released or not; the person that had it received as a gift from the rep

Saw one in a store the other day and bought it for the girlfriend ( for putting up with all the beer trading lately ) but I'm itching to open it. Was debating putting it away and aging but feel she would like the raspberry sweetness from drinking sooner than later. Will be trying sometime in the next two weeks and would also like to know what shape this takes with some age on it.

It was really sour fresh, I wouldn't push it too much. Will likely get funkier, which could be a good thing.

Batch 1 never hit distro due to inconsistent carbonation, but Allagash has poured it frequently at events along the way. I've had it a year before batch 2 was released, it definitely ages well.

I had one tonight, found it to be pretty tart/sour with a quick dry finish. Moderate raspberry taste, not over powering or absent in raspberry flavor. Little bit of funk at the end, I think you would be good to cellar this.

Had one a couple weeks back and as stated above it is very tart though I recall that being similar to when I drank it fresh. Also had it on tap during Wild Friendship and it was on a different level second favorite beer that night just behind LPK. Have a handful more Mattina hoping it continues to age well I will check in after my next one and let you all know.

I drank a bottle today that was bottled in Feb. 2015 and it was more acidic than I remember it being when fresher. If that's your thing, than go for it.
