    Hello!

Does anyone have any experience cellaring prior releases of Cran-bic? I acquired a hefty amount and was curious about whether people enjoyed this after some time in the cellar or if I should unload what I don't plan on drinking within a reasonable amount of time. I've hard mixed things about the recent release, some of them saying it tastes artificially sweet. I imagine some time on them would cut down on the sweetness and accentuate the sour/tart notes. Is my logic flawed here? Thanks for the advice. Cheers!

This batch is pasteurized so cellaring won't do much.

Really? I didn't realize that... kind of surprised they would pasteurize a beer they're marketing as a lambic. Kind of a shame.

I assume the last batch wasn't pasteurized? I had one about 8 months ago and while still good I definitely prefer the fresh batch. The cellared bottle came from someone who I believe stored it in a kitchen cabinet so it wasn't cellared in ideal conditions though.

My biggest problem with the New Glarus fruit beers is that they have an artificial sweetness to them in my opinion. I do enjoy them but I find the sweetness to be almost cloying sometimes. I was hoping this would lose some sweetness (which I think it will) and gain some sourness/acidity (which it sounds like it won't) over time. We'll see I guess.

I hated this beer. What will cellaring due to mellow the burn in the aftertaste? I would not drink this again unless I had it on good authority that cellaring actually made this beer drinkable.

After a few years the cranberry fades, it seems to take longer for them to fade compared to other fruits. Once the cranberry subsides the tartness is more noticeable and it seems to lose the refreshing, want to guzzle the shit out of it flavor.
I loved every Cranbic I ever drank, but it is best in the first 2 years IMO.
