Recently Had Smuttynose Baltic Porter with 2 years on it, was phenomenal, also had last years version fresh which was also quite good but I liked the aged one better. Definitely smooths out the booze.

3 year old allagash tripel maybe best beer I've ever had. To echo others as well: Brooklyn bcs, dfh immortal and palo santo. Ommegang abbey is good too smooths out very nicely

At 5 years old, DFH Fort is the best cellared beer I've opened, and one of the top 10 beers I've ever had. I'm not much of a DFH drinker in general, but this was really something special.

I've only had one fresh and while it wasn't bad I could tell that a few years would do miracles.

Drinking Westvleteren 12 fresh is bound to disappoint. Give it a year for it elements to integrate and you'll understand why its so revered. At three years, its even better.

How has backwoods bastard aged? I've read mixed opinions on it's progress throughout. Saving a few from this year to see what it becomes.

I have some from last year left. Still pretty good. I liked it better fresh. Just my opinion.

it's amazing to me the mouthfeel thickens up and the malt and bourbon barrel mix perfect. This years backwoods is a different beer to me then previous years...it taste like backwoods with a year maybe even more on it already, it doesn't have the heat that previous years had, so I don't think I'm going to cellar but 1 or 2.

I have a 2005 (original batch) collecting dust in the basement. I was thinking 10-15 years. What are your thoughs. Was the 5 year old bottle at it's peak? Can you imagine it improving?

I drank a black chocolate stout with about a year on it and it was really surprising how much better it was. Super smooth and silky. I have 2 left from '11 and bought '12 to add.

1-year old Smuttynose Baltic Porter was fantastic. The whole thing was quite balanced, and it was smoother and fudgier than I recall it fresh, yet the (dark fruit?) twang was still present to distinguish it from most ordinary porters. I'm quite glad I have one more.
