Censorship on Beer Labels

Laughable hypocrisy from a country where barber shops double as rub&tug joints. No doubt this is just Korean Big Beer (aka Hite) flexing its muscles to impede evil foreign beers. BTW Koreans are required by law to pay 4X the real price of rice because their rice industry is so heavily protected by the govt.

 

Speaking of Quebec beers and censorship in the states, I just remembered a big one. DDC makes a vanilla imperial stout that is called "Aphrodisiaque" but when it is sold in the states it is sold as "Aphrodite" (or something along those lines). The thinking being that you don't want people drinking the beer thinking it will give them sexual prowess. Or something....

I've always preferred to make my own pearls for the ladies.

 

Not surprising... I visited S. Korea last year and was surprised to discover that many web pages were blocked by the government. When a site was blocked you'd get a page that explained that the site was in violation of the country's moral code.

 

It's not always the pictures on the label that get censored. For example, the whole Velvet Merkin and Velvet Merlin episode...

 

Dark Horse: Smells Like Weed IPA was labeled, Smells Like A Safety Meeting. Great beer, doesn't really smell like weed though

 

The Ale Apothecary can't put the name of the brewery on their labels... That's why their bottles say "¿APOTH?".
