Driving out to central coast (Cambria) in late July for a wedding. Planning on hitting up Firestone and then up to RR and Lagunitas. Any other breweries/bottle shops/beer bars I should be hitting up?

If you're going as far as RR just up the road is Bear Republic. Please note it's almost 300 miles from Cambria to RR. Drakes tap room in San Leandro is on the way. As is El Toro in Morgan Hill. The Trappist & Beer Rev are easy access from the freeway if you go through Oakland.

This. They have put out a lot of great beers for a small operation. Aaron, owner/brewer, is great to talk beer with. Especially nice if you are staying in Cambria.

If you can, head down to Firestone in Buellton. BarrelWorks is there and features small batch offerings like their saisons, sours, and barrel aged goodness.

If you are passing through Buelton, stop by Figueroa Mountain Brewery.

Thanks for the responses! Headed out this Saturday, getting pretty excited. Going to Cambria Brew Co. for the groom's dinner, should be fun. Super stoked for DDBA at Firestone, anyone seen it on shelves yet?

I hang out in Cambria quite a bit. Bring Aaron (owner/brewmaster/janitor) of Cambria Brewing beer from wherever you are from to share with him, he'll like that.

DDBA is available in the bottle at the brewery and is generally on tap there.

Do you need restaurant recommendations, or are you pretty tied up with wedding stuff?

There is no good pizza in Cambria. Don't even try.

Do get Mexican food at Boni's Tacos. Two locations, one on Main Street, one hidden. Extremely great Mexican food, and I have high standards.

Do not go to Molly Pitcher's Brewery in Acascadero as they are out of beer at the moment.

Do visit The Libertine Pub in Morro Bay, just down the road. They have a new whiskey bar with a kick ass view of the ocean and they are making their own sour beers now. Great selection.

Bring a jacket, the CA coast is cold this time of year!

I've yet to try Molly Pitchers. Is it worth trying out once they have their own beer on tap? Nothing I've heard of seems that special.

Definitely bring Aaron some Coffee Bender.

I think Molly Pitcher will be worth a try once they get their new system up and rolling. The guys are real nice and eager to hear feedback and gain knowledge to improve. You could see that improvement as they brewed more on their original system and now with a larger more efficient system hopefully it will all come together for them.

Central Coast Brewing in SLO is definitely worth a visit now. Have truly improved their beers over the last 2 years and just won gold at GABF for Monterey St. Pale Ale. If in Pismo Beach California Fresh Market has the best bottle selection in the area. Lincoln Market might have the best bottle choices in SLO. Libertine Brewery now has a location in SLO that does tasters and growler fills. Also, where I work Dunbar Brewing in Santa Margarita we just opened up our produciton brewery and offer tasters and growler fills there. We also have our public house just down the street now with our beers along with a good guest tap lineup and good selection of bottles as well. Molly Pitcher in Atascadero is now Tent City and has quite a few of their beers on tap, solid but nothing spectacular. Also, depending on when you are here, there are bottle shares in the area pretty regularly.
Hit me up when in town if any more questions or want to grab a beer
