I'm looking at having to travel from St. Louis to Madison sometime this fall (I.e. I'm not going to Chicago) but wanted to get some advice or recommendations on decent beer spots or even just good places to stay in central Illinois. Willing to deviate away from the I-55/39 path a bit if it's worth it, but I have never been to central IL and wanted to ask the experts
If you want to stop for a bite to eat and grab a drink check out http://destihl.com/ or http://www.medicinormal.com/ there is a binny's not too far from the interstate http://www.binnys.com/locations and a Friar Tuck not too much further down the road. Binny's would probably have the fresher selection of the two. If you choose Destihl hopefully they have one of their sours on tap.
Friar Tuck in Springfield has a pretty good selection, and is only a few miles off 55. http://www.friartuckonline.com/Index.aspx
