Have they ever not been a BA Stout? They just seem to get more delicious every year.

I heard rumors of 3 year style runs for the future of their anniversaries - that's the only reason I posted...

I heard that 17 won't be as good as 16.

They said they don't know what to expect, they put 17 into barrels before 16 was done.... They said 16 will be hard to live up too, I agree

CW does really good job with BA stouts. Why try to reinvent the wheel. If its not broke, you don't need to fix it! Sixteen is easily the best barrel aged stout that has come out of Wisconsin and even better yet, they made a shitload of it so people on beeradvocate will actually drink/share/enjoy it instead of using it for tradebait towards the hype beer of the week on the trade forum. The WI beer scene is awesome these days.

Yup Sixteen is the CW bench mark for BA stouts. Black Gold isn't even as good as Sixteen.

Literally just had 16 yesterday. As close to perfection as you can get.

I also had a 16 yesterday and it is very good but I thought Black Gold was better.

Any chance CW will distribute 16 when they make it again? Would love to see it in 12 oz bottle 4 packs!

CW still has it for sale at the brewery as of last week. Well worth the drive for an 8 bottle limit.

You aren't kidding. I'm finding less and less reasons to buy out of state beer.

Weren't we just talking about this?

Now that the sours are picking up steam, Wisconsin will be up there with the best of 'em within a few years. I'd love to see a few more really good single stouts, regular line-up imperial stouts, and a few more solid bottled IIPA's.

I feel like CW's best IPA is Lac du Bay, would like to see them nail down another really, really good IPA. Illumination is awesome, and actually has a pretty long shelf life for a IIPA.

Any other styles we could bolster?

Oh, and let's just throw this out there- Lakefront Black Friday will also be a BA beer, hearing Imperial Stout from a few sources, but not 100% on the style yet.

That would be awful if they changed Black Friday from their usual Black IIPA to a BA Imperial Stout. That Black IIPA is hands down the best example of the style I've ever had. Blows Blakkr out of the water!

I also love Black Friday- one of the best fresh Black IIPA's I've ever had- up there with Hop in the Dark. I'm hoping they still brew it but release it in 4-packs or bombers as a distributed beer. It's a great beer to have in their arsenal.

I don't love the idea of another BA Imperial Stout release on the same day that everyone and their grandparents is hunting down that other BA Imperial Stout. But I'm eager to see what Lakefront can do with barrels.
