I thought I heard the same thing, but wasn't there and couldn't verify with friends that were...hence my reply above.

My friends very well could have been the ones going up at last call to pick up their bottles. Somehow they only walked away with 3 each?

A good first step would be to eliminate mules. You must be present to purchase your allotment, plain and simple.

There is a difference between mules and proxies.

edit: You CAN'T eliminate mules as easy as you can proxies.

You're right- I meant proxies. Who in all cases act as mules in one way or another. I don't mind if everyone in line is buying their own beer.

I do think that planning is a very important part of running a successful brewery. Toppling Goliath has gone so far as to put special releases into distribution this year to avoid having a crush on the brewery. CW has the natural barrier of being way the f*ck up North in January, so most folks not from Wisconsin or Minnesota are going to pass on the event. I think it would be a reward for those of us who did go for CW to eliminate proxies. Keep the excess bottles on sale, brewery only, like they have been doing. But speed up the line by not allowing one person to pick up multiple cases for folks who didn't make the trip.

Then, if you really want to give them a shot at the beer, put a post-release sale online and give them a generous window for picking up the beer.

My only real issue this year was the line. I think it was quite a bit slower than it should have been. But they're getting a feel for it, and I only expect it to get more efficient.

Alpine did a damn good job of eliminating mules. Feels like they'll send Omar after you if they suspect you're hauling bottles up to LA.

robear, do you take your significant other with you to brewery events? I do. She likes beer, but not like me. If the allotment is set at 4 bottles/ person and we end up bringing home 8, is she my mule? No matter what, this is going to continue and there will always be a line. If not for one reason, than another. That's the main reason I avoid any event selling "rare" bottles.....it's just not worth it.

Back on topic.....thank God CW BBS is not hard to find!!!!

Beer. And there isn't always a line... I picked up my 4-bottle limit of Exponential Hoppiness on an unannounced Tuesday release day. Had to read the board several times to make sure it wasn't a joke.

I'm confused, wasn't CW selling 16 at the brewery months past the party (maybe even still now for all I know), so they certainly did not run out the night of. Every event could be run slightly better, but there was plenty of 16 available.

I had one friend taking a bus up from Madison and he almost missed the ride back because the bottle line was quite long, so maybe your friends had a similar issue?

I'm not really sure what happened with them. She claims that they would only sell her three bottles, but maybe she deserved it?

Anyone else notice that 16 didn't/doesn't demand the same trade value as 1414 or Fifteen? Even when they first came out, those beers were whales- Black Gold, too, obviously. CW 16 is arguably the best of the bunch (maybe 2nd best behind Black Gold) but I don't think it's achieved "whale" status and doesn't really raise traders eyebrows. I don't trade a ton, so I don't really care, but I thought it was interesting.

Has it been sighted anywhere in MKE this month?

Hmmmm... BBBW is still widely available. Stout sold faster. Maybe Otto's still has some? Discount? Your best bet might be smaller shops who ordered too many cases.

Maybe the continuous infection issue they had with PM overshadowed it? I'm not sure, but like you, not being a whale hunter it won't keep me from saying it's possibly the best BA beer I've had this year. That includes Proprietors, Black Tuesday and a bunch of others.

I noticed that too. I've traded one bottle for a '14 Dark Lord, which was kinda of a letdown on my end since Dark Lord isn't that amazing of a brew.

But yeah, I can't say I've ever seen an ISO for 16. People are missing out!

It might be a byproduct of the infections of PM (and the one batch of BBS) or a lack of demand due to the higher numbers produced this. I have to imagine that it will get more sought after in a few years. Just not sure I could hold off on drinking mine that.

I've thought about including it in trades, but the responses I get are not that enthusiastic, usually annual release un-barreled beers.

Yeah, probably the best beer I've had this year. And that's not the frostbite talking.

From what I know, 16 never sold out and they didn't have a problem with allotments. You could still get 16 almost to this past week. Not sure if its gone yet.

Has anyone seen any CW BBS in the Milwaukee area recently?
