This is all over northern IL now. For the $$$'s the Central Waters brewers reserve series is hard to beat. I am really looking forward to trying 17 now.

Just did a CW BBS vs. Tyranena Carnal Knowledge taste test. Honestly can't say which is better - both are so good.

Tyranena beers always have a soda-like mouthfeel to me and are usually dominated by their adjuncts. CW by miles.

Maybe you are referring to the regular lineup? No way in hell that is true for the BGW Stouts and Porters. I've found their BB beers to have a creamier mouthfeel than CW, aside from 16. 16 was straight up incredible.

I'm not because I don't drink Tyranena's regular lineup since it's very mediocre to me. I'm just not very fond of the BGW series either. They feel off to me (thin, sorta slick, over-carbed, etc.). Decent brews, but to my palate and for my money, I'll take CW. More for you guys.

Hmm. The BGW coffee porter I tasted reminded me of what the burnt on coffee stains on the bottom of an office coffee pot might taste like. Pure awful. I tried to give them another chance and that is what I got. Yuck. And I love many other coffee porters and stouts.

Sorry you don't like it. You're in the minority with its overall rating of 94. I tend to prefer very strong coffee flavors and think many coffee beers are to weak.

I love coffee, just not burnt coffee. An over the top coffee beer that doesn't taste burnt is Big Bad Baptist. And BCBCS is my favorite beer, bar none. Oh well, that's why they make lots of beers.

CW bb stout is the best bb release I've tasted this year besides BCBS. Cannot wait for the barleywine. Anyone know dates on that yet?

I think I saw February on the 2015 release schedule. And interestingly enough, BB Cherry Stout in January.

Did the cherry get distributed at all last year or were they still impacted by the shortage from the year before? Never saw any. I had it at the anniversary party but that may have still been the previous year's.

It saw pretty decent distro in larger WI markets (Madison, MKE, Fox Valley). Not sure if it made it out of the state, I suspect it did not.

It was distributed last year. Still on the shelf up here in the Northwoods actually.

I also saw a pack of 2012 Kosmyk Charlie's Y2K Barleywine sitting in a cooler last week if that gives you any idea what turnover is like up here. Those beers have been sitting on the shelf longer than I have lived in WI.

I bought a few 4 packs of the 2012 last year when I was up there for the birkie, thinking I got the last ones. But no.. They had restocked the shelf when I was up this summer. I got a ton of space ghost there too ...
