Central Waters Bourbon barrel stout

Probably gonna be a few weeks for Cherry Stout......and NEVER for brandywine.

 

Sounded like the cherry was going to be Wisconsin only.

Yeah, Cherry is going to be Wisconsin only. We still have a bit hanging around the last day or two in Madison but I don't think it'll last long.

 

Not sure how much I trust a guy that doesn't mention Y2K....and says "uh" or "umm" every third word.

I am pretty sure I paid $11.99 at woodmans west; I have heard that west prices are often lower than east for some reason.

 

I went to a Central Waters tap takeover a few weeks ago at dexters in Madison. They had the 2013 bbs, 2014 bbs and the 2014 cherry bbs as part of a taster I had. Everyone at my table agreed that the 2014 was better than the 2013, and the regular was better than the cherry(so, I dont think you are missing a whole lot if you can get the bbs but not the cherry).

 

Agree with everything above. 2014 bbs is the best version fresh that I've had that I can remember.

 

We were there too and agree with everything you said. Will say though, the Rye Barrel Cherry Stout they had at the tap takeover was amazing. Wish they would bottle that one. I think the harshness of the rye and the tart cherry helped to balance it out.

 

Just was at Steves on PD in madison, and they had a good amount of the cherry left.

 

A bit off topic but has anybody seen any bourbon barrel scotch ale still hanging around between hudson and amherst? Eau claire, wausau, stevens point, central waters brewery? Making the trip to central waters next weekend and hoping to pick some up along the way. Thanks

 

so I finally found a four pack and noticed that the notch on the side of the label that indicates the year is clearly on the 2013, did I just find a one year old 4 pack?

Yep. I have a few '13s at home, but just stopped at a place on the way to dinner w the wife, hoping to grab some '14s. Was happy to find some 4 packs on the shelf, so grabbed one, but later realized they're all punched 2013. Whoops!

 

There was a notching error with the bottles from this year's batch (2015) of Bourbon Barrel Cherry Stout. Some of the bottles were notched 2013 or 2014. There is a bottling date code on every bottle. If the last two numbers are "14", it's the 2015 batch. Apologies for the confusion.

 

Was at Discount in Milwaukee yesterday. They had the Cherry w a one bottle limit and just a few 4 paks of the regular. Last year they had a display w cases of stout and barleywine piled up. It appears that production may be down this year ? Am waiting on the barleywine !

 

Production was actually more, on both. BB Barleywine will be rolling out in the next several weeks.

 

Will Y2K be out this year? Bombers or 4 packs?

 

No Y2K bottles this year. We do still have bombers of the last run available for sale at the brewery however.
