    Looks like this is hitting stores. Called a local and they have a 1 bottle limit at $4. What has this world come to? Pretty soon the truck chasers will be on this.

    let me guess, an MGM?

    MGM Calhoun always breaks this crap up into single bottles. if its not $12.99-$14.99 a four pack, pass. you can find it easily at those prices.

    Eden Prarie...MGM is probably worse. Also I heard the reason for the limited allocation is that they had to dump a large portion of the batch due to infection. Anyone else hear this?

    Limited allocation? There is a shit load of it in Wisconsin obviously with some liquor stores receiving 10 to 20 cases each on there first orders. One beer manager ordered 100 cases and already has 20.

    It may be a case of a store trying to capitalize on all of the barrel aged excitement that's been around recently trying to create a high priced market even though the supply doesn't justify it..

    I would suggest those new to "The Chase" that there's no need to panic.

    I just visited a local hole-in-the-wall with a pretty small "craft" section & they received multiple cases of CW BBS. I've seen it just about everywhere I've stopped this week. Yes, some people are putting limits on it, but some aren't, & I could easily have bought cases of the stuff by now (I haven't).

    This isn't BCS or Darkness. Even if this is the only drop (I would be surprised) & the big stores run out fairly quickly, this beer will be loitering at small liquor stores for weeks, if not more. If you want a four-pack or two & you're in the Twin Cities, it won't be tough to find at all. Good luck!

    I will say this year seems to be a bit different...This has been plentiful in the past, but my regular spot received a much smaller amount than usual..I hope CW distributor is just spreading this out thinner trying to get it to more stores initially...but if a second drop doesn't come I'm a little worried. This beer normally hangs around for a couple months..If it's around at the Superbowl all is well...otherwise there was a supply issue or the barrel craze is out of control. I think you're right, and this will level out...just nervous with the lower than normal inventories

    i heard word that part of this years was infected. cant say whether its true or not, but may be why its slightly more limited this year.

    CW and infection have gone hand in hand for years now. Last year they retooled the whole barrel program and shook the bug (no pun intended)....Hopefully that's not the case as they have one of the strongest barrel programs in the region.

    That's not entirely true. The batch they sent to Iowa was infected. They called it an issue with a filler or something like that. It sat around in quantity for a month or so and then seemed to disappear (Iowa City area) over night shortly after CW admitted the problem.

    I stand corrected..hadn't heard that. I do find it amazing that a company like Deschutes has a problem with their most sought after stout one year and immediately take care of the problem. CW has been chasing this for years now. As long as what they release is good I'm happy..it's just unfortunate for them and can't help them financially or boost their reputation.

    I'd like to hear some sources if there was an "infection" with this year's batch. If anyone has a reliable source please post it, otherwise please stop.

    I agree...as I said originally, I thought they had this under control and until I see a credible report or open a gusher it's all good and an amazing beer!!

    This years offering is the best IMO of the last 3 years.

    I took it as a sarcastic post, as I thought they figured out what was causing the infections? I haven't really been a big fan of the last few releases, but maybe I'll give this one a shot.

    Sorry...didn't try to start misinformation. Just thought it was odd that the west metro has seen very little allocation. My source is definitely not reliable so I'm hoping there are no issues this year.

    Just had one and it was top notch. Perfect balance IMHO. Sometimes GI BBCS is a little too thick.
