Central Waters Brewing (2019)

Man, did everyone forget about Black Gold release this year or what. So nice to finally get the opportunity to buy a ticket. As of a moment ago, you could still buy a ticket on the site.

 

Came here to check the same thing! First time EVER for me getting a ticket and I have tried year after year to no avail. Stoked I finally get to get some of this beer! Cheers

 

4th year going to Black Gold. Looking forward to another well run release and a great time at CW.

 

During my first purchase attempt I got a "bad portal" error message instead of a confirmation number after checkout so I started over and now I have 2 confirmation emails with 2 separate order numbers. Wasn't too hard to get either ticket but did anyone else have a similar issue? I'll email BPT later to make sure both my sales don't get flagged for appearing to game the system.

 

There is something odd going on. I could still get in to purchase tickets at 7:10 easily and everyone i know has got them. Did they produce 1,000,000 bottles or is something wrong with Brownpaperticket site.

 

Got in right away, then got the error and hit refresh and showed me having a ticket in the cart so bought it and got a confirmation. My wife got through too. Had and extra ticket and waited until all went though then about 6:07 released the ticket back to the wild. Refreshed and it said sold out. Refreshed again and it was there. Refreshed again and was gone

Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a lot of either extra tickets released back due to errors and how bad the bpt site is or if people like me knowing the bpt site cane crash at anytime get on multiple browsers and hold until sale went through and then release it and slowly 1x1 they go back to the site and once sold out at 6:06 people don’t check back

 

I thoroughly enjoy CW Black Gold and their anniversary beers. I'm just one data point but I wish they would move these to 12 oz packaging (cans or bottles).

 

Anyone have any issues with Rye Barrel Chocolate Porter? Not talking about the last bomber release that was known to have issues but the 2019 12oz bottles. I've had 2 friends report bad bottles tasting 'phenolic whiskey, greasy feeling' and both confirmed with pics showing nasty floaties caking the glass. One of these was definitely from the same 4 pack I was drinking from. I cracked one and while it seemed like a weak year it didn't seem spoiled or infected to me and I had no sediment. Just curious if anyone else has had any bad bottles?

 

No problems here either.

 

Some CW bottles I've had from time to time have floaties going on, but the taste is always spot on. Rings true for Rye Barrel Chocolate Porter in 12oz.

 

Missed it again this year.....damn!

 

Well damn then, guess it was bad luck? My theory is that this beer does not travel well since one of the 2 bottles in question was opened in FL and the other in Canada. Maybe it's susceptible to bad storage? I know the people who drank both bottles and I know they know their beer and have no reason to lie about them being bad. Oh well!

 

Please drop one off. I shall test it for science.

 

I recently opened one and it too had floaties. Didnt taste bad but was somewhat different than I remember. Mine also traveled, about 1000 miles in a hot moving truck so maybe that has something to do with it.

 

I thought I drank my last one but I found one more in my stash and I just might take you up on that. You can run it through your battery of lab-quality purity tests and let me know.

It's weird because one bottle was definitely mine that I tranported long distance by car and my Florida buddy said his bottle came from a different BA but I'm sure I sent him a couple as well. The only other common thread here is that both bottles may have taken a beating while traveling long distance. I know infection or "off flavor" claims are not taken lightly around here and when I posted my complaint I figured at least 1 or 2 other people might chime in but I couldn't even find other bad ones on UnTappd. Is it possible for the physical conditions of travel or shipping to destabilize the product so much it takes a turn that badly? Wasn't going to tag anyone else but maybe @DoctorZombies is willing to provide more specifics on his experience?

 

Little late here, but I really liked the past release of RBCP (12 oz). Haven't opened a bottle in a while though. The release prior to that (bomber), my first bottle was great, but a second bottle was...awful.

 

Surprised no one posted this yet. The BBBW canned offerings have my interest piqued. But alas, brewery only.
