Central Waters - Sour Program

    Central Waters just launched in Iowa this week and they have been having release events all over the state. I was at an event the other night and got the chance to talk to Jordan from Central Waters. He was excited to tell me that el Bait Shop in Des Moines got the only keg of Exodus and that it was going to be tapped on Thursday (last night) and asked if I had ever had it. I told him I hadn't and asked him if it was the only Central Waters sour beer.

    He explained it is the only sour beer they have released for production, but that they currently have about "40 various bourbon and wine barrels sitting in their brewhouse with various sours sitting in them." He said some have been in there for quite a long time and there are quite a few different styles. He also said that before long, they will be "tasting them, finding which ones are good and which ones suck and also blending them" to find out what sours they will continue to produce. He said the future was looking very bright for their "sour program" and he hoped it will some day be at the scale of their barrel program.

    Between this, the New Glarus expanion, and the new O'so sour program, Wisconsin is going sour crazy.

    Yep...it appears Wisconsin is out to the be Sour mecca of the Midwest.

    The wall of Exodus in their older barrel garage is quite impressive.

    Central Waters is a fantastic brewery. Few mishaps here and there, but it's hard to be perfect with their recent growth.

    Dang. That is a nice piece of news to read. They definitely know their way around barrels.

    I actually really liked the infected batch. I think I hit it early though. Heard it turned to shit a months out.
