The base beer is just the Rhode Scholar stout, so it is only 6%. I've purchased growlers of this over the years, and those have had more prominent bourbon/coffee aspects. A couple of years ago you could find it on tap at many places around the metro-i dont believe South Shore is distributed here anymore however?

On topic- Central Waters BBS and Y2K is at Princeonts as well.

Those dusty packages are for "collectors only", as one beer guy has explained to me in the past. :grinning:

    * O/T, but I'd like very much to see his Eis Weizenbock in a bomber!

Spoke with the brewer at a tasting event in Milwaukee. He said that they DID age this batch for a full year and that previous batches were aged for 6mon. Also said they spec out 8 yr + barrels but not really a specific bourbon producer.

Must have restocked, as there were several of each when I was in today. Only $12.25, so even 50 cents better than I expected!

Also, I agree with the general consensus that this year's is a bit better than last couple years. Not night and day, But definitely a nicer nose and slightly richer flavor. Still could use a bit more body, but remains the best bourbon stout on the market for anywhere near this price range.

If the bourbon barrel barleywine is as good as past years, I can sustain on these two for quite awhile. If it manages to improve a bit like the stout did, I will have to clear out cellar space.

For those in the area, Princeton's was out yesterday, but hoped they could get another shipment.

Any in the south metro yet? I called around this weekend, zippo.

Just picked up a 4 pack at Heritage, looked like there was one more left and a couple singles. I guess they got a quarter of what they did last year and I was told CW is holding most of it for WI. Also grabbed me a 4-pack of Bigfoot which they just got in

Well luckily Hudson isnt that far, if thats the case.

How much is Bigfoot in 4pks now? Same as Narwhal, etc?

Yea the Bigfoot was uhhhhhhhhhhh $9.49 I believe. It was $23 even for both 4-packs the BBS was around 11.49.

Yea I was told to go to Hudson if I wanted the CW barleywine. Looks like a trip may be in order for me this weekend.

We should be getting the BBBW this year when it comes out in January/Feb. The Y2K barley wine is what you need to go to WI for.

Has the Y2K barleywine ever made it over here (to MN)? I've never seen it around.

Really? I'm not talking the barrel aged version. I didn't see it in the Twin Cities.
