After 5 years Lagunitas CEO, Maria Stipp is stepping down while Dennis Peek, who most recently served as managing director of Heineken Canada, will take over as CEO. This year they already cut over 4% of their workforce, the 2nd workforce cut in 16 months, but it looks like their off-premise sales have increased.

There is a local Lagunitas pub, but I don't go there myself unless it's by invite and I don't purchase their beers anymore either. For me it won't matter what they do to shake things up because their still owned by Heineken :-1:

I could care less, as long as the beer quality doesn't change and the price stays low. Nothing beats Lagunitas for that.

It's hard to pass up Lagunitas when you can find it fresh.

Lagunitas made the "genius" decision to eliminate the best beer in their portfolio. While owned by Heineken, it's not crap, but it also isn't OG-level quality, either. If you know, you know. I hope Mr. Peek is tackling his latest assignment with vigor.

Is this why? I got the most stupid, ignorant, response from Lagunitas when I asked why Philadelphia and or Allentown didn't get the Hairy Eyeball. Yes, of course, I've had it year's past, enjoyed. Like all their beer. I was very complimentary, and if you would read the pathetic, stupid, responses I got, you wouldn't believe it, or maybe you would. I warned the ass, you don't respond to me that way, I am an well respected, beer expert with a few fans in my area, over the years. The point is, why would you treat any paying customer that way. I never have. I would kill to have that person responding to me across from the table. It'd be their last, stupid, response.

 Your posts are hilarious. Great trolling, sir. But I do agree that bad customer service, in a service oriented industry, is extremely stupid for a business. And I greatly have enjoyed Hairy Eyeball in the past too. I haven’t seen it pop up in my area yet, but will buy it if I’ve seen it. And this is coming from me, who has many fans far and wide, and am highly respected in the beer game. Bow to me.

Local sources (https://www.pressdemocrat.com/business/10730734-181/petalumas-lagunitas-brewing-ceo-resigns) imply that Heineken brass believed she handled the business end well, but wasn't responding to market changes quickly enough. They want to increase European sales and make better use of the Lagunitas brewery in Holland. Her background is in video games while the new CEO is a long time Heineken employee with European & North American experience. He seems to be a better fit with Heineken's long term plans for the brand.

Keep putting out BA beers for $12 a four pack and I will keep buying them. Willetized was a tad thin this year but still very nice.
How about putting cappuccino stout in 12oz bottles and bring back the original imperial red, that was a beer worth drinking.

    Enjoy

From the above linked article (post #7):

Under the photo it states: “CEO Maria Stipp with product lines for the Petaluma company, from left, Super Cluster, a citra-hopped mega ale, Hop sparkling water, cans for their flagship IPA and DayTime, a 98-calorie low alcohol IPA.”

I would suggest that the above indicates plenty of new products being developed.

But,,,” However, Lagunitas was slower than its rivals such as Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. of Chico to get into the popular hazy beer craze.”

Yup, that last quote is true as well.

If the beer isn’t hazy it won’t sell well?

    Cheers!

I agree in that Willetized is very nice. And yes, available at a reasonable price.

Last evening I had my first can of Sierra Nevada Narwhal. I thought this beer was good but...my initial reaction was "this beer is not deserving of $20+ per 4-pack". I have 3 cans left so further drinking will occur; I will discuss this beer in a future NBS thread.

    Cheers!

This is really not news in the Corporate World. Let me see if I can write the press release in one train of thought.

Heineken is a market leader in brand driven awareness and constantly pursues new avenues of inquiry within its purpose selected customer focused sectors.

Maria Stipp successfully led Lagunitas through a difficult transitionary period within craft beers explosive end user experience phase. Heineken N.V. accepted her resignation and is excited to introduce Mr. Dennis Peek as the acting interim CEO.

Going forward, Lagunitas is well positioned to leverage its core competencies to dominate within the ultra-premium lupulin forward fermented malt beverage categories. Mr. Peek has previously piloted Heineken's liquid access commitment and was a key player within the disruptive HRapp initiative (Heineken recyclable alloy packaging portfolio).

Through extensive Green Spacing into new Blue Horizons, Heneken will continue to shit all over a once proud and groundbreaking craft brewer prior to ultimately not giving anymore fucks and finally selling the last remains to a conglomerate of bankers.

Heineken's targeted Senior Management strategy is additive to investor activity.

    Cheers

Maybe you will be a BIG fan of this beer?

Please let me know what you think.

Just to repeat myself: I thought the beer was good but I did question the 'bang for the buck' aspect of this beer. In contrast a few months ago I purchased a four pack of Founders CBS for $20+ but I thought that beer was excellent (i.e., worthy of the high price):

They were probably playing the edgier than thou edge lord, Lagunitas to think of themselves as irreverent.

Maybe is is just me but whenever I see Mr. Peek mentioned I think of Walter Peck of Ghostbusters:

Narwhal just never hit the spot with me, something, not sure what, just seems lacking.
You mentioned bang for buck; Frangelica is a much better value than either KBS or CBS. Both the coffee and hazelnut are holding up well.
