Cervezas closing

sold to bougainvillas who had just recently added a few decent beers (oscar blues cans). I remember not long ago when you asked what they had you'd get the "everything" answer which of course meant bud, miller, coors and the "belgian" blue moon. I hate to be pessimistic but I can't imagine anyone from boogies knowing anything about beer.

 

That really sucks. While I haven't personally been there I knew of it's reputation. I also met Carlos for the first time this weekend at a party. Really great guy.

 

*sigh* Let's see what Bougie's turns this place into.

 

Carlos knowing his shit was the main reason I ever went there. We have wob now which is cheaper but they don't have as much oddball stuff and most the staff doesn't really have clue. Cervezas really brought a lot to the area and seems to have made the other bars around them expand their beer selection. I don't know the details of what went down but it doesn't seem like a amicable sale from the way the FB post is worded and it sucks to see that place get scooped up by a frat bar.

 

zeke's has been closed for a while now. Someone else is there now and I hear it's pretty bad

 

You've got Lokal burger, which has been doing Johnathan Wakefield taps since before it was cool. JWB is opening up next year, so there is great hope

to chime in on the cerveza's fiasco, wob sucks. it'll never be a replacement for a good, independently owned, craft beer bar. i fucking hate that the only thing in west kendall with a decent selection is suddenly wob (new town and country location, which i'll never go to). yes, cervezas had great events, but imo too many too often. the kegs wouldn't even kick and they'd sit there for weeks until the next event. aside from that, they were slightly overpriced (i'd blame the south miami rent, but what do i know) and most nights it was dead. a lot of the people who went there only went for events. that being said, other than abraxas, no one really has as good a bottle selection. i'll definitely miss the place, and i hope these guys from bougie's don't run it into the ground.

now i'll go back to pretending BA doesn't exist.
