Hey, I have new beer lines coming in the mAil soon and I can't seem to figure out how to get the old line off of the elbow in the tower. There is some clamp but nothing seems to fit in there. What am I not seeing? Thanks.
you are correct. removing the old beer line is quite a pita. but it can be done with some effort. there is very little room to get tools into the top of the tower but it can be done. it is difficult to pull off the existing clamp; a pair of vise grips and some careful application of force is needed. be careful not to bent or break anything. grab the tab and bend carefully until the metal fatigues and breaks. then you have to sort of unwind the band. a pair of needle nose can also do it. a heat gun or hair dryer will soften the plastic tube. pull it off the nipple. install the new line. be sure you have the proper hose clamp on the line before you put it back on the hose barb. dipping the end of the tube in very hot water will soften it up. you can also take apart your faucet and shank assembly if needed. it's not hard. you do still need to get channel locks into the tower though. you will need to install the line on the coupler as well, but that is fairly easy. examine the rubber washer for wear and replace if needed. you can use the one you have until you get the $0.10 part. it's called a beer washer. go figure. just take your time. have a cloth available to cover any exterior metal so you don't scratch it. Cheers.
You need to take the elbow fitting off the tower to replace. Use what zero_signal said above to remove the tower nut and then the elbow will come out.
