My original rating of Pilsner Urquell: 2.75. When I had it last weekend: 4.69.
I've gained an appreciation for smaller beers since the last time. I also probably had it out of a green bottle before, and a can last weekend. So I'm sure that helped.

I definitely need to re-review more often. As mentioned, many factors go into how you experience a beer at a particular time.

I tend not to decrease scores, even if it's a clear case of "I thought this was good before I knew what I was talking about". Consequently I have a lot of really high scores for beer that probably doesn't objectively deserve it. HOWEVER, I feel that if my experience at that time warranted the higher score, then it deserves to keep it, drinking and rating beer is a subjective thing.

On the other hand, I will definitely increase a score as needed. Perhaps the first time I had it was a bad bottle, or the tap line was dirty; the score of the beer should not be negatively affected by those things once I have an experience that contradicts it.

    yes, but not to often
I wish the rating system was 0-100, is a 4 equal to an 80? emailed one of the Bros and his answer was vague

Yes. And familiarity does breed contempt. I still love a good hop forward ale, but lately they are causing taste bud fatigue.

Some of my old reviews are pretty well off the mark of what I would say today, but thats what I thought when I reviewed the beer.

Just updated a review now. I think keeping the old review is as important as adding some new thoughts if you feel it should be updated. Both thoughts and tastes are valid, it is just how you have evolved to whatever point you are at at the moment.

I tried to look through some of my old liner notes of various musical artists, but could not find this particular bit. I remember reading Paul Simon's liner notes when The Paul Simon Notebook was released. It is a bunch of songs he recorded in the early 60's after S&G initially broke up. I am paraphrasing, but in part the notes said that these are what he thought and felt at the time, and are every bit as important as what he thinks and feels now. Even if they are not the same thing.

    Yeppers...

As recently as this Thursday... had Space Dust for the second time, way fresher than the first time (last year), and it was stunning - had to go back and adjust my score

Sometimes I'll change what I wrote, too, or add info from a more recent vintage - sometimes I will adjust scores of related or similar beers to make sure my ratings represent the beers correctly with respect to one another...
