just got the itinerary from the Bride.....holy crap i might have like literally 2 hours to myself during the 3 days i will be there. Looks like my best option might be to just do CBX when i get there on thursday and convince my buddy to hit up Closed for Business on Thursday night. Then maybe an early lunch on my own somewhere saturday before catching my flight back to indy....

yeah, it's looking like that's gonna be the plan. slight chance that thursday night the guys may go out, and I've suggested Closed for Business....but we'll see....none of these guys have the same desire to find solid craft brews that I have....

Definite hit up the local breweries for fresh growler fils and samples. I frequent the CBX, most all I get is local. We have a great thing going on here. Actually drinking some Holy City Shiftee right now.

I'm not sure if it has been covered yet, but if you are looking for something a little off the beaten path "The Tattooed Moose" is a must. It's a real divey bar with every square inch covered in sharpie graffiti. The beer selection is well above average (although not quite to the level of mellow or CFB), but the duck club paired with the duck fat fries is incredible! It also pairs quite nicely with an arrogant bastard which they do serve. Enjoy your trip!

I'm on Folly for the week. Any suggestions other than Bowens Island. TIA.

Lots of good spots on/near Folly. Surf Bar has excellent food and usually Coast on tap. Folly Beach Brewing Co on Center St is a must go - excellent tap selection (for a town where everyone wants to drink cases of Bud Light). Taco Boy is hugely popular, but not the best selection and I think it's a bit overpriced.

Smoky Oak on James Island not too far from Folly is the best place on JI for beer selection (one of the best in the lowcountry, IMO). Excellent barbecue and other food.

Not even close to being good food. I usually get the flavor country (right name?) pizza over at Paisanos and walk over. Beer list is usually solid though.

Everything from Palmetto is shit, except the expresso porter. Its a reasonable local sixer that is good. Drink fresh. Also, had some dark helmet on tap down there and it is wonderful.

Palmetto Pale Ale is 100% solid - it's been retooled over the last year or two, along with the Amber, so if you haven't had it since, you should try it again. And the Lager is a solid no frills lager. Espresso Porter speaks for itself.
