Hello all! Headed to Charleston for a wedding the first weekend of August. This will be my first time to Charleston and any and all recommendations for beer, breweries, and restaurants would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Coast, Holy City and Westbrook are always good trips. There are other too

Beer bars: House of Brews, Edmunds Oast (food and beer) Coleman Public house, Closed for Business.

Definitely hit HoB and EO. Two different but great experiences. Food at EO is worth the trip even without the beer and the Beer list is like nothing you'll see many other places.

Restaurants are a very broad topic, Charleston is full of great restaurants. What are you looking for?

    Price, style, etc..

You'll find all you need to know at Chsbeer.org. Great site to look at and always up to date.

Even though it's up in Summerville, I'll add Homegrown Brewhouse. Everything served in it's proper glassware, lots of SC breweries.

For the record, JISurfer is not a paid sponsor.

    But he probably should be.

i took a trip up in late January, went to Coast and Westbrook and had a great time/beer at both. i definitely recommend those two. Also make sure you visit Charleston Beer Exchange in downtown if you're considering taking some bottles home with you: http://www.charlestonbeerexchange.com/. Tons of great stuff crammed into a small space. If you're like me and have little self-control, put a chastity belt on your wallet.
