I will be headed to charleston over 4th of July. Besides Westbrook where should ba person go? Looking for beer places not food places.
Charleston Beer Exchange, Holy City Brewing, COAST, Homegrown Brewhouse (new place in Summerville that features 90% SC beers, has 40 taps), Closed 4 Business, Coleman Public house, Craftsman Taphouse (I think that's the name, it's a new place on Cumberland St), Piggly Wiggly on Maybank Highway (has over 150 beers on tap). Go to Chsbeer.org for up to date info and happenings. Closed 4 Business, Coleman, and Craftsman have food as well, but a draft solid beer selection you can get at their bars.
What about breweries? I would love to get some local bottles or growler fills. I will be with some other beer guys, so while the women shop we will be drinking.
I'll be there is weekend. I won't be able to make it to Westbrook, but anyone know if I can find Gose and Mexican Cake outside the brewery in Charleston/Mt.Pleasant?
Not sure about MEX Cake, but Gose selection is slimming down. I think they are planning on canning it sometime, but not by this weekend. Might try calling Bill's liquors in Summerville, any of the Piggly Wigglys, maybe Total Wine. Might have a good shot with Bill's or the Pig, they tend to be a little off the radar sometimes, so they have things longer than others. I was at CBX, but they were out of Gose. I went to the Pig on Otranto Rd in North Charleston, they had quite a few left. As far as bottle selection though, the Northridge Pig and the Maybank Pig have quite a large selection of bottles and beer for growlers. I know for a fact that Homegrown Brewhouse had both on tap this week. BTW, when I say the Pig, I mean Piggly Wiggly. I just get tired of typing that.
Yep, Homegrown Brewhouse has both on tap and they have growlers available. http://www.homegrownbrewhouse.com/#!menu/c3cp
