We are going to head over from Edisto and get to a Westbrook around noon Saturday. I posted in the in person trade forum if anyone is interested. From there, we need recommendations for a lunch spot with a great draft list. Also, which bottle shop should we go to? Cheers!
Check out Bottles, House of Brews, Total Wine and The Charleston Beer Exchange. Edmund's Oast has about 40 taps, but their food is very expensive. Also, Closed For Business in downtown.
^^ You can also grab a pint or two while at HoB. In the Mt P area, I would suggest Coleman Public House for food/drinks.
This might be a bit out of the way, but Smoky Oak Taproom on James Island (towards Folly Beach) has great BBQ and an even better tap selection. On Saturdays, they do their rib 'give-away' special. $10 for a half rack of ribs, cornbread, and 2 sides. For $15, you get the whole slab!
Is it? I actually find that most Westbrook releases that hit distro sell out at the taproom well before they sell out in bottle shops. My experience has been Total Wine has actually been the best place to get Westbrook distro'd beers. And my guess would be Gozu would have no limit at a place like Total Wine. Also, Total Wine tends to have the best prices on Westbrook stuff (paradoxically, as lots of their other brews are more expensive).
Call Westbrook first, to make sure. Last year they had Gozu for $6.49 a bottle, while Total Wine had it for $7.99.
I would think the brewery would be the best bet for quantities of Gozu. I got allocated very little and it is shipping to my accounts on Tuesday. (Columbia)
Care to share what else was in bottles/cans as of this weekend? I have a friend making a trip there over the next day or so and would like to give him a heads up on what to expect.
