I think it took me three trips to Husk to finally get it. Before I was like "its just a burger", ugh was I wrong! The Bar is so fun. They always play great music too.

How does the burger at husk compare to edmund's burger. The EO burger is just stupid good, my god man!

I've only been to EO to drink but now I know to try their burger when I go back.

I can't speak to that since I've never had EO's, but I fancy myself a burger ***** (aficionado sounds kinda douchy) and it's tough to beat Husk's. I believe it's a combination of simplicity, the finest ingredients (ie. Benton's bacon ground into the patty), and the thought put into it's assembly (ie. pickles at the bottom to avoid "slide off"). It's one of the best burgers I've had anywhere. Hopefully I'll have enough room to try EO's

Downtown, I would second the fella earlier who recommended Closed for Business and Craftsmen. As far as selection is concerned, I think Craft Conundrum is the best spot overall, even though it is not technically downtown (about 10 minutes away). They have an excellent selection of both local brews and other hard to find things - I had Lunch on draft there last week, as well as Westbrook 5th anny and Avery Vanilla Bean Stout.

One of the excellent new breweries in Charleston, Revelry, is also doing its first ever bottle release this weekend if you wanted to bring back some good local stuff. Coast brewing is also releasing its DIPA (Boy King) and Imperial Stout (Blackbeerd) on Sunday.

Belmont, Hall's Chophouse, and Gin Joint are worth a shoot for finding PVW, but I can't be sure if they have it.

Does anyone know if the cans of Blackbeerd are barrel aged or not? Looking forward to my 4th Brewvival and the bottle releases are just the icing on the cake. Also, any info on Oak Road? Not much info on their Facebook page.

If its charcuterie you are looking for then look no further than Edmunds Oast. The fresh charcuterie board at EO is literally the best thing I've ever put in my month.

Also, jumping in on the burger comments. In my opinion the best burger in town is at an unassuming bar in a strip mall up by the North Charleston Colliseum called Big Billy's. Edmunds Oast is second. I've been to Husk but did not have the burger. And although Husk was very good I personally thought it was pretty overhyped. The bourbon list was killer and was my favorite part of the restaurant. I thought the food was good but didn't stand up to some of the other top tier restaurants in the city. I do plan to go back though and will try the burger.

My personal favorite restaurants are Edmunds Oast and Anson. Anson has only been reopened for a few months (following a major fire that destroyed most of the building), but I was there a couple weeks ago and it is amazing. Cru Cafe is also one of my favorites. Lastly, I think SNOB is fantastic but the atmosphere is a little stuffy for me.

Hard to top Charleston's charcuterie game. I've heard great things about EO's program so looking forward to that. Cypress has always been phenomenal. You have a valid point as far as Husk and where it ranks, specially locally and personally. I've always had a soft spot for it since I've been a big fan of S. Brock and his approach to southern cooking for a long while even before his Beard awards, but I would agree I've had equally as good or better meals at other restaurants in the city. On the burger front, it's always the case that the best burgers in any given city are often served at non-descript "mom & pop" joints and not at the best restaurants

I was also wondering, I'm thinking of bringing a few local bottles (FB, JWB) to give away to a local BA. Just trying to spread some love. I'll be in town from thu the 17th, leaving on sun the 20th. If anybody on this thread wants to meet up for a brew and some free buuurz let me know. However, if there are no takers, where would you suggest I make a post?

If you're a big Sean Brock fan and like Mexican food, he has another restaurant on East Bay called Minero. Casual Mexican restaurant with a unique menu, as well as great cocktails and tequila menu.

I'd be happy to meet you for a beer and do a little trading. I should be in town for at least part of that weekend, but will have a better idea in a week and a half or so. We can talk when the time gets a little closer and coordinate.

I agree on all fronts - and especially love Craft Conundrum. The owner is a total beer geek - he seriously knows his stuff and he's an absolute blast to talk to over a pint or three.
