Personally wouldn't go to Jim n Nick's. Home Team and Swig n Swine would be my first choices. I'm sure there are others who have opinions, but I wouldn't put Jim n Nick's in my top 5.

I'm planning on driving up to Scott's early sat morning since I just found out the farmers market isn't open until April. I've been told it's worth the hour or so drive

I'm no BBQ aficionado, but I will comment. I think Jim and Nicks is real good, probably my favorite in the city but far from the best BBQ I've ever had. I honestly tend to fade away from BBQ in this city. Too many great places for food and not enough great BBQ places. I have heard good things about Swig and Swine, but not until recently so I've never been.

Smoky Oak Taproom is a good choice (on James Island between Downtown and Folly Beach). The BBQ is decent and they have 40+ beers on tap. It's 2 minutes from my house, so it's a 'homer' recommendation! :grinning:

Craft Conundrum is definitely my favorite.
Richard and Karen both know their beers backwards and forward!
Richard created and patented The Frankenstein, which allows up to (I believe) 160 kegs at one time.
I guarantee that no place in Charleston, or the whole country, has cleaner taps. Dude is anal as hell about his lines.

I've somehow never been to Craft Conundrum, but I just went to their beermenus website and their prices are absurd. $12 for 12oz pour of Westbrook 5th, $8 for 12oz pour of Well's Banana Bread, $9 for 12oz pour of Maine Mo, $14 for 12oz of Zombie Killer; the list goes on and on. Get serious.

Gave Poogan's Smokehouse a try on my last visit and it did not dissappoint.

Also on the charcuterie front, Ted's Butcher block and Bull Street Gourmet are great

Yes on Poogan's Smokehouse. Also in town Cumberland Smokehouse and Smoke BBQ on King St. For pizza and beer EVO in North Charleston is well worth it. We went to CFB a lot since it was the closest beer to the marina where we stayed. Great place to while away the hours. Their Pork Slap is one of the best sandwiches in Charleston. Tattooed Moose had a smallish beer list but fun and good bar food. Bay Street Biergarten was also good. Edmund's Oast and Craftsman Kitchen & Taphouse were the beer stand outs for us, both with great food.

It's good stuff. To be honest I live in Bbq heaven here, and I Jim and Nicks. But if I'm in Charleston I'm looking at the Shrimp and Grits.

I gave up on their food a long time ago. Everything is overcooked.

Thank you for the bbq suggestions. Sounds like it's between Swig n Swine or Home Team - depending on time. Hope to grab some COAST, but my time is limited to a few hours to kill before a wedding...COAST itself will unfortunately be closed...

Is it an easy Uber from DT Charleston to Westbrook? Also, is Westbrook cool with people bringing in outside bottles?

It's easy but don't know what it costs. A short taxi ride from downtown to West Ashley costs me $25. I'd see if there was something at WB you can't live without before spending the time and money. There are plenty of things to do downtown if short on time. Poogan's Smokehouse, Craftsman and The Griffon are all about a two minute walk from each other. Actually, I'm heading to the Griffon today because they only do fried chicken on Wednesdays.

Uber should cost about $10-15 to Westbrook from Downtown as long as there is no surge pricing, I've been looking into it myself for when I'll be there next weekend.

Ugh. So what the hell am I supposed to do with the Cycle Monday, Angry Chair GCCC, Angry Chair The Awakening and MBCP that I intended to crack there to share some Florida love with the WB staff and SC peeps? Alternate suggestions welcome! Was planning on heading there and cracking these on Thursday. Still want to check out WB (never been)--anywhere close to there that would allow a little share?

You may want to call and ask House of Brews or shoot them a message on FB before you go as a courtesy.
