I just did an estimate, got 16-19 (after adjusting for the surge at the moment) assuming no traffic. But since the route will be 17 to 526 on a weekend, yeah, there's gonna be traffic.

 

Best bet is HoB. I'd just walk in and let the beerkeep know you have some cools brews to share. I'm normally there on Thursdays & Fridays, pretty regular crowd. If Rob is there, he'll have something popped i'm sure...shoot me a pm and I'll text and see if he's working tomorrow if you are interested.

 

I would not at all be surprised if they changed their policies but bottle sharing at Westbrook certainly used to happen fairly frequently back when I was less busy and went there often (around a year ago or so, maybe a bit more).

 

Just keep driving north to VA! lol

This! Definitely give those guys a shout via FB/phone as there are certain times/days when cracking bottles with the place packed isn't always welcomed. If you visit during a lull period, any of those guys working will definitely take you up on popping a bottle or two.

Yeah...not so much anymore. I want to say this was axed almost two years ago.

 

Called HOB. Guy I spoke with said no dice on bottles. Said they stopped allowing outside bottles after a recent charity event where I guess things got a little hairy. Perhaps this rule only applies to strangers.

In contrast, the woman I spoke with at WB said bottles would be fine as long it was low-key. I guess they don't want big group bottle shares but are okay with a few bottles. I'll find out in about 20min. Feel free to come by and say hello and have a pour of some FL stuff if you're there. Black Craftwhere hat.

SC folks: Go meet Erik. Yeah, you'll be able to taste some good beers but, more importantly, it'll be an opportunity to meet a first-rate BA!

 

Alas, my trip to WB was short. Such is life when you're playing hookey from work conference obligations. Met some really nice people including a few of the WB bar tenders (Josh, Katie, Joey) and Ryan from packaging. Had a flight of tasty brews and left with a few Crowlers of their new NE-style IPA (El Dorado, Citra and some other hop--hazy and delicious). Looking forward to the next trip up.

P.s. Hit The Griffon and the Charleston Beer Exchange last night. Similarly great experiences. CBX has a monster bottle list. Nothing but love for the Holy City.

P.s.s. Anyone reading this looking for a food recommendation--do yourself a favor and get the gnocchi at FIG. Wait if you must. Shit's incredible.

 

By the way, before you worry about getting a beer in CHS make a B-line to 167 Raw for the lobster roll. Trust me.
