How come no one in Charlotte has heard of a wine shipper? I have been to three bottle shops and two Total Wines and none of them sell wine shippers or know where to get one. Any help would be much appreciated.

Probably because the styrofoam shippers are everywhere in wine producing California and not as common here in our fledgling wine industry. I used to not be able to give them away.

Reids Fine Foods is the only place in town I've ever seen them, and that was 10 years ago when I worked there.....

I've heard of them, unfortunately I can't tell you where to find one in Charlotte. :stuck_out_tongue:

I heard someone mention U-Haul once, but have no clue if Charlotte area ones sell them.

I work at a Total Wine, and we dont sell wine shippers. I think you have to have a special license to ship wine, and its pointless (and borderline illegal) to sell equipment to ship beer when you cant ship it yourself.

Thanks, Shane! I ordered one that holds a dozen 12 oz. bottles years ago when I was trading, but now I can't remember where I got it from. Made trading super easy, assuming you were just after 12-ouncers.

When I needed some I ordered some beers online, they usually shipped in nice shippers. A lot of times I would get similar shippers back and forth in trades, but have since run out and I no longer trade.

Not quite that young. NC is home to the nations first cultivated grape. To date we have over 100 wineries.

I well know the history of cultivated indigenous grapes back into Colonial times, and of course the modern era-still including muscadine and scuppernong. Still, those wine shippers are not common fare here like they are in California and the Pacific Northwest. They are excellent for shipping anything breakable, and I know they work perfectly for beer sent long distances.

Correct on the shippers......but I was simply stating that the wine industry here isn't that young. That is all.

Been in CLT for 15+ years and I can say I haven't seen a wine box shipper for sale anywhere. I would call the true wine shops around town and see if they have anything as they are your best bet. Maybe try one of the Wine Shops in town a call. Worst case is you go to the one in SouthPark and get an awesome burger.

Yep U-line is the one that I order through, and we go through literally pallets of them monthly. They usually come 6 boxes to a case, I am not sure if you can order individually, but I would imagine that you could. They have single bottle, 3, 6, and 12 styrofoam bottle shippers and I have never had one (that wasn't overstuffed) break. Should be Standard equipment in a "ship it out" store, we keep loads of them on hand and sell them too. I would check U-line first, usually they will drop it at your doorstep within a day or two

There is a wine distributor (The Country Vintner) out of Virginia that delivers to retail wine shops in the Charlotte area 4 day's a week. In this distributors order guide, they sell 1, 2, 3, 6 and 12 bottle wine styro shippers. They use a Virginia based company (RADVA) that produces these shippers. If you locate a retail wine shop that does business with The Country Vintner, then technically you should have no problems ordering said shippers. I hope this helps.

I would think if you packed the top and bottom of 6 and 12 bottle cases with peanuts (granted they have sturdy cardboard dividers), you shouldnt have a problem
