Just popped one open and was considering doing a review. I found it in the database http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63/73287 one review. Well after reading that review and comparing the label on the bottle with what was written it apparently is a completely different beer now, even the wet hops are different (centinial-heirloom cascade) I probably will review it because it meets my personal criteria for reviewing , its excellent btw. But I'm not sure I have the correct beer review page, help?
Just tried this myself. Thought it was enjoyable, very sessionable, but I think I will stick with Hop Trip. And I used that page for the review. As did someone else just before me.
Just read your review and I agree with almost every word. It is a strange bird in the IPA family. With my eyes closed I would think that it's a wet hopped Victory Prima Pills. And the color, Bright yellow with almost a green ting. I'm going to get some more and review after I've had more than one (not necessarily in one sitting, but Dayum I do like this beer)
Yeah, I just reviewed it too. I wouldn't call it an IPA, not enough body and not the hop boldness i look for in an IPA. APA kinda fits,I'm not sure where else you'd put it. I agree that it looks like a nice Pils. Maybe if ya approach it from that angle? All I know is, this thread made me go to bar and get another pint. And I've gotta be at work in 45 minutes. Fuck!
OK this gets weirder, after the Chasin I popped open a Bridgeport Hop Harvest Pilsner. I can't find any reviews of this one and honestly I think I could just copy one to the other with minor modifications due to different yeast. Both very enjoyable. Cheers!
I am on Deschutes website right now and it shows they are using pilsner malts in Chasin Freshies, that might explain why the main difference between these two beers is the yeast? The two use similar hops?
Get your minds out of the gutter kids. Or, get your arse off the couch perhaps! Freshies is a mountain term for fresh snow, ie powder aka ideal snow to ski/snowboard on. Coming from a brewery that commonly names their beers after outdoor pursuits, it's not surprising they named a beer to honor some of the awesome snow conditions in the PNW. (examples of their "outdoor" beer names - Chainbreaker, Red Chair, Big Mountain, Altitude etc) But, if you wanna keep your dirty thoughts going, they also make a beer named "Free Ride Creme Ale". Have fun with that one!
Chasin Freshies is in bombers, Hop Trip is in six pack forms. Currently drinking a Hop Trip.....so delicious.
Get a bomber of the Bridgeport Hop Harvest Pilsner too. The similarity of these beers is remarkable and entertaining.
