If you enjoy the chase, chase away. If you don't, Speedway Stout and Rodenbach Grand Cru are better than just about every stout or sour I've bothered to chase.

Except for chasing ______. Not everyone is rolling in beer that trades for KBS.

Especially since OP is in Ohio where the people that have KBS already have everything he has. Living in the PacNW made it easier to trade for bourbon county stuff this year.

I've been drinking PtY since 2007. I only started chasing it since 2010. I've continued to drink at last 100oz of it every year and don't feel the least bit guilty. BTW, I chase Heady & Ephraim with Pliny & Bad Boy. Yeah, I said it...

That's a pessimistic view. I live in New Jersey, and I believe there are lots of great beers coming out of NJ, PA, NY, DE, and MD. I also go to Maine and Vermont a lot, and there is so much great beer in those two states alone. The Northeast is a great place to be drinking amazing beer

True statement. Living in PA I guess I tend to take Victory, Fatheads, and Troegs for granted.

Been "chasing" KBS today. By chasing, I mean making phone calls. Sold out. Sold out. Sold out.

    Oh well.

I take care of my beer guy with hard to find beers that I get on trades. I asked him to set aside 1 bottle of KBS and to my surprise & delight when I went in he handed me a 4 pack! Sent 2 out as gifts (one U.S. Marine & another to a great reviewer/BA) and kept 2. I think this is how it's supposed to be done.

I don't see why anyone needs more than a four pack of KBS, but it sounds to me that what you're really dealing with is disliking your former ways. That is the sign of growth

No, I don't think that's how it's supposed to be done at all. You shouldn't have to bribe store employees to be able to purchase goods. Store employees shouldn't withhold products from sale to the public because they're accepting bribes from others to hold those products.

So what's the difference between reserving one on FB and stashing one for a great customer? The fact that he gave me a four pack? I asked for one, got 4 and gave 2 away for nothing.....It's only beer for God sake.

Here in Chicago we don't have to chase beers. Like Rob 315 said I drink local fresh beer. Revolution Eugene porter or Two Bro's Northwind may not be the best beers in the country and don't really measure up to those east coast bad asses like Heady Topper, but they are good enough for us here.

While at a small shop in Columbus today I went in to pick up some local goodies. While I was in there I watched four different people peak there head in the door and ask "you guys got any KBS?" The shop owner replied that he was sold out within two hours when it came in, they turned around and left. I chuckled to myself and continued shopping. When I brought my little haul up to the counter which consisted of a couple of local barrel aged brews and a couple sours, he pulled out a bottle of KBS for me without me even asking for it. He said "thank you for not just running in and asking for it". So I am going to split the one bottle between my gf and my brother tonight. Kindness and common sense can go a long way, even if it is just one bottle.

Bingo! I got pinged when a somewhat local bottle shop got Black Note in, and to my surprise, on April 2nd, there was 1 bottle of KBS left. What a great day.

"To each his own." Just like some people get off on the number of likes their Instagram photo or Facebook post gets or reviewing 1,000 businesses on Yelp, some people like to chase beer day in and day out. Do what you like to do, don't get hung up on others' ways.
