So I love barrel aged beers, but I hate paying the outrageous prices for some if them.

Does anybody know of any cheaper barrel aged beers?

I recently picked up two 750ml corked bottles from Victory brewery at 8.99 each - the Oak Horizontal and the Resd Thunder.

I have also seen some cheaper offerings from heavy seas brewery and Schmaltz (Hebrew) .

    Any other similar suggestions?

No offense, but that's pretty cheap for a BA beer. Backwoods Bastard should be slightly/barely cheaper. Bourbon County will be a reasonable amount more, but then again, you're getting one of the best BA beers in the world.

For that format (750 ml) those are on the very, very low-end of pricing.

Barrel aging takes more time, space and money to make which is why the pricing generally reflects that.

Not many breweries can beat Victory on price.

You can get DuClaw Retribution, which I think is very good, for $15. That's higher than what you described, but at the low end of what I think is normal for BA beers.

Weyerbacher. At least Heresey. Insanity might fit the bill too depending on how much you see it for.

    Oak Horizontal was very good.

Two of my favorite barrel aged beers (aren't bourbon barrel aged, just oak) are DFH Palo Santo Maron and Buron Baton. However, I doubt they fall in the cheap category depending on where you find them. I would buy those everytime I see them though.

If you got Oak Horizontal for $9, that was a happy mistake. Usually closer to $15.

    I agree on the Weyerbacher.

Definitely check out Siren Noire if you see it. $6.99 for a BB aged stout is a steal.

Yeah. That had to be a mistake. It was $19 at the brewery this year.

Foothills BA Peoples Porter is usually around $6-7, but the BA flavor isn't very pronounced.

    Suck it up.

Barrels are expensive. Brewing massive beers is expensive. Space for barrels is expensive. The cost of most barrel aged beers is not outrageous. It factors in the cost to produce them. It's not like barrel aged beers have a mark up like perfume or something.
