The distro I was at ran QD's (quantity discounts) on that stuff that would make 3rd world nations scoff. I believe some C-stores were running 2 for $1.50 specials on the 24's at one time. Now that's a deal if you want to get your buzz on with Genny Ice!

I went to college in the early 90's and we paid $27 for 1/2 kegs of Natty Lite (bought 100+ a year though).

Anyone got a price check on Iron City?

I do think it's kind of cool that PA still has several locally-produced and independently-owned AAL alternatives that compete against the usual macro brands. At the very least it's unique among most states... Everyone has PBR or Natty, so who cares?

When I was in HS I could get Piel's Light for $1.29/sixer or $4.99 a case. One can from the 6 and I gave away the rest.

I will keep an eye out for it when I go later this week.

I appreciate the local brews, when i was underage all we drank was lionshead because it was cheap. Now its cool for people to shit on it. I'll take a lionshead any day over any of the usual yellow-fizzy suspects. Haters gonna hate hate hate, fakers gonna fake fake fake...

I just got back from my local beer distributor buying some ice for homebrewing.

They were selling 30 packs of Iron City for 20 bucks (translates to 16 bucks for case of 24).

The cheapest price listed was for a case of 24 cans of Natural ICE: 12-13 bucks.

    Cheers!

"Old German" was such a popular beer brand name, it once took 2 different breweries to supply PA, one in the east and one in the west.

(Of course, there were 3 or 4 dozen other brewers that used the name over the years, including a number of other PA brewers).

I saw PBR in a bar Saturday for $2. Nothing else was under $4. Old Rasputin was $7.

That eagle logo looks oddly similar to the eagle America's OTHER oldest brewery uses.....

In Southern NYS, the cheapest beers in any cooler usually are:

    • Busch Lite/Ice
    • Natural Ice
    • Ice House
    • Red Dog

I pretty much avoid them all.

Stewart's also makes a beer. It is simply called Stewart's Ice Beer. I have never had it, but I will admit: I'm curious and one day will venture there even if I regret it. I mean their ice cream is good sooooo...

Beyond that you have the Malt Liquors which are pretty good for 22 to 40 oz sizes such as:

Milwaukee's Best is normally just a buck more and more bang for your buck IMHO. It's a good standard beer and a pretty good go to if just BBQ'ing or such.
    • Olde English
    • Steel Reserve
Again, I do have some sort of sick love for malt liquor and every now or then I get this urge for Steel Reserve. I usually drink it as a sipper from a standard rocks sized whiskey glass.

In Alberta, "buck a beer" is about the cheapest you'll find. Boxer is usually the cheapest thing you can find, but that doesn't make it worth paying for.
