Just like the title says, Im in the market for 8 new perlick 630 SS and Im curious what the best price you guys have seen is??? Im also open to 6x 525SS but it doesnt look like anyone has them anymore Also I AM NOT interested in the chrome plated versions at all, I dont mind the extra expense for a solid SS faucet Im pretty excited to finally be putting together an 8-10 tap system in an upright freezer! Add in a brewpi / raspberry pints + 15" touchscreen and this is gonna be one kick ass kegerator!!
The 630's seem to be pretty consistent around $40 (http://www.homebrewing.org/Perlick-Stainless-Steel-630ss-Perl-Faucet_p_4606.html) If you watch homebrewing.org, bev factory, sometimes they have random sales where you can save a few bucks.
Pretty hard to beat Amazon for price and convenience. Right how they are just under 52 bucks (yawn) but you can get a pair for 80 bucks. But many of the Amazon prices change like the weather. Suggest you put them in your Wish List and take a peak every day until you see what you like. This doesn't work for all Amazon products, but most hot items change regularly. Also search:http://camelcamelcamel.com/Perlick-630SS-Stainless-Steel-Faucet/product/B00IZOQ5FW?context=browse This shows a price history . . . gives a feel of what to expect (this works for just about everything on Amazon). I just bought a set of tires that dropped 20% for a single day.
for reference, they can be had wholesale for $37.50 plus shipping and tax. but that is for 24+. if you are an installer or a re-seller, you will pay $37.50 and that is an extremely competitive price. not much money is being made on that thing. 1-12 costs us $43.50 each for a s/s 630. if you can beat that price you are doing very well. anywhere that has them for less is giving them away. probably to generate additional sales from the traffic. don't bother with the 525. they are discontinued. they had leaking issues. Perlick has stopped selling them and it was a bit of a disaster for the whole forward seal concept. the replacement 630 is a bit of a step down is some areas, but they are more reliable and nobody wants a faucet that leaks. don't rule our chrome. true s/s is a better item, but the Perlick chrome faucets are very nice and the price is great. a homeowner really doesn't need s/s faucets except for the fact they feel nice in the hand. as far as reliability, very little difference for the money. if you are running a keg a week through the thing then that is different. we have placed the chrome next to the s/s (when waiting for a replacement since we don't keep a lot of the s/s in inventory) and it can be hard to tell them apart without knowing. Cheers.
I currently have 525s and love them, Ive never had a single issue with leaking, though Ive read about it. I think i heard somwhere that was either and early or late version issue with the model My last kegerator is going on 10yrs old now, so the small additonal price for the SS doesnt bother me. Ive had chrome faucets chip and then when I hit them with caustic/HCl it starts to eat away at the faucet. This one Im guessing will last me at least 10-15yrs more, so the durability is what Im after
Anyone use the creamer faucets (575ss)? I went with 6 of these for my keezer and I absolutely love them. Guests are always super impressed by the perfect pour, lol.
