I just want to preface this by saying I'm not bashing the brewery but I feel its important to let people know my experience for what it's worth.

So Revolution Brewing showed up in Ohio in late Nov / early Dec. AWESOME! Going to Chicago 3 times a year I love being able to get this back home in Columbus. I drank everything they released in Ohio I could find ( Eugene, Anti-hero, wit) until 2-2.5 weeks ago when Rise amd Double Fist showed up in bombers. Picked them both up. Drank the Rise about a week ago. Very nice. Popped the Double Fist last Thursday - total drainpour. I've had this beer before and I'm thinking wtf? Found a very small bottle date stamped on the front side of the label with a bottle date of 09/05/2012. Now I know wtf is up and drainpour the entire bottle.

Part my fault for not checking the date (didn't feel i should for beer in new market but thats my fault) but big distributor issue for sending old ass beer to a new market - which I don't understand as the Anti-Hero was tasty and fresh. Heck, the Rise had a November bottle date Stopped at a friends Friday and he pulled a bottle of Double Fist out of his fridge to which I quickly asked him to check the bottle date. Same date. Different store. Same drain pour.

Just tossing a warning to everyone else out there.

I'm not sure if that is a true bottling date. I say that because there are bottles of Double Fist on the shelves here that have a "date" of 3-14-12. But according to the beer guy at the store I shop at, who is pretty well in touch with the Chicago beer scene. He told me they were not even bottling then. Who knows but I figured I'd share what I had heard.

I believe Revolution started bottling in winter/spring 2012 and start canning in the late summer/early fall of 2012. As a Chicagoan revolution's stuff has been available for close to a year here in the city and not sure when they started expanding distribution. So it's possible that your beer was actually bottled on 9/5/12.

However I cannot speak to when they started distributing outside of Chicago so it's possible that your beers have been sitting on shelves for that long, or maybe in the distribution warehouse, or whatever. However I would venture to guess that it's not Revolution's fault as it's not in their best interest to send out 4 month old beer. My guess is it's probably an issue somewhere in the middle of the supply chain; either at the distributor or the retailer.

I had an old bottle of double fist in Chicago as well. The cans they are usally great on. Dates are always easy to see on top of the holders and are usually quite fresh.

Totally agree it's not Revolution's fault. @ Vav - thanks. Let us know the 411.

    Beesy-

Send me an email when you get a chance. We want to make sure that you are as satisfied with our brews and love them as much as we do. The date on our packages is our born on date, we did have some issues with some of the first runs being printed with the wrong dates.

Just FYI I have been seeing a lot of you six packs with smeared and illegible born on dates in stores
