Just wanted to checkin with everyone to see how the forums and feedback system are working.

A few issues I've seen recently are people getting annoyed with "bad trader," "value," and "what will it take" threads. Anything else?

We're open to your ideas for improving the beer trading community ... so let's hear 'em.

    Cheers!

There is an icon for things you've had / reviewed. I think it would be useful to have an icon for things on your wish list. Sort of tangential, but an idea.

Would it be possible to add a filter to the beer review page that would list the people you follow that have rated that particular beer. I think it would help with trading and sending extras.

I currently have 2 'open' trades that have been completed for a while now. Both traders won't leave feedback because they've disappeared off the site. Would there be a way to request that finished trades be considered closed and 'good' if the other party can't/won't/doesn't leave feedback?

I hate having to send "hey, can you uh, leave feedback?" beermails.

I know it's been addressed and dismissed many times, but since you're asking:

Many here would like to see bad traders, specifically those who have stolen from others banned.

I understand the Admins and moderators don't have the time to deal with these issues.

But people are banned for far less, yet thieves roam free with impunity. It just seems inequitable,

If the site is about beer advocacy, what offense can possibly be worse than stealing beer from another?

Isn't it possible to allow the trading community to police itself? Ask for volunteers. See if there are reputable traders who are willing to serve as the investigators and inquirers behind these issues when they crop up and let the community handle it itself.

Where would the harm lie in doing this on a trial basis?

anyway, thanks for asking for input!

There's a core difference. We don't have proof when it comes to trades. It's one user's word vs. another's. Getting involved at this level would open up a major can of worms.

I would like a way to see a defference between trades completed IP and trades that were shipped..similar to the way the system handels multiple trades with the same person.

I would not mind a forum just for bad trader posts

Or just use the feedback system.

Yea I was just thinking of a way to cut down on the bad trader posts as of late. I agree that at some point if a person didn't confirm the trade with the feedback system they can't post a bad trader alert

With there being over 2,000 (IIRC) trades per week there are going to beers and more bad traders. That's just the numbers behind the trading game.

While unrealistic I think they should ban the words This Is Not Going To Get Done in the replies section of trading. Too many trade czars/****s that spread their vile without adding to the actual ISO.

while we're at, there should be a character MINIMUM in that forum.

please eradicate the  as an acceptable reply in a FT/ISO thread

They did that for a while and then eased off. I think comments can help when used positively. Far too often it is negative. B

Comments on ISO/FT threads can be a huge help when there's something significant you didn't know about the ISO beer (e.g. not released yet, soon to be re-released, etc).

Another vote for something in the trade feedback system to distinguish between IP and shipped trades. Some folks are great at showing up for an in-person exchange but not so great at securely packing a box, or vice versa.

Should be self policing I think. The dregs will be sorted out , do your due diligence if in question they ship first. Really simple IMO . Can never eliminate the scam /lazy guy.

I know its not as entertaining but I've always thought comments should banned in ISO's. Any positive or helpful commentary can be sent via pm. It seems that a lot of people use commentary to artificially inflate the value of their own beer.

I realize the comments can be helpful for other people but it goes both ways. We should all trade our beers based on what we want and what we think is fair, others opinions shouldn't sway a trade one way or the other. Possibly at least have the option to lock your own ISO. I know this has been done in the past but I'm not sure why it went away.

Not to mention, why have commentary available in ISO's when so many people seem to use the beer trading help section as a personal guide to gauge "what's my beer worth"?

Don't get me wrong, I love and encourage feedback on most of my ISO's but that can all be done privately.

Been mentioned before, but a list of traders with bad feedback in one place would be great.

I like comments, and communication there is great imo..Yeah, there will always be A-Holes...But banning comments just caters to the few Aholes and "punishes" us who are not.. jmo
