Sometimes they are, yes. But I often find a lot of value in these threads (and often start them myself). I trade frequently, and sometimes get the idea in my head that I really want to try a beer and then think to myself "huh, I have no idea what it would take to land this beer!" The most recent case of this for me was A&T. At the time I hadn't seen it posted in the trade threads for quite awhile, and it's a relatively obscure bottle. So I posted a "what does it take" type of thread, and I got some really useful information.

For now, I've moved the bad traders to the top and extended last activity from 7 days to 1 month.

I'm assuming that most aren't going to trade with someone with bad feedback and even more so if they haven't logged in for over a month.

Also, I might fine tune this list (and any future list) to take feedback % into consideration vs. just getting bad feedback as a beer traders status can get better.

Looking through the forum, it seems like those might cover 98%+ of all threads.

Definitely, please lock ISO posts for no comments. Thread-shitting has gotten completely out of hand.

As someone who just had a case of beer stolen in a trade (person had 100% feedback), I'd love to see some way of banning the thieves. As you said, it's a relatively small portion of the very large community. Maybe there could be an inbox to submit evidence of the thievery. Enough actual evidence = ban.

Would it be feasible to allow international trading to be posted in the relevant country forum? Or even just add a sub-forum to each of the existing country forums.

ISO´s for outside the USA tend to get lost on the main trading page and none of the Dutch/Belgian/Scandinavian etc BA´s get to see your post.
I´m referring to Euro BAs looking to trade with another Euro BA.

We'd like to keep the trading out of regional forums, however, I think some forum of subforum or prefix could work within the trading forum. Same goes for the IP trading forum (adding some International prefixes). I'll give it some thought.

Here's a simple idea (unrelated to stuff that's come before). When I'm looking at my past trades, I'd like to be able to see WHERE the traders I've traded with are located, not just their names. I don't always remember - is he in Minnesota or Wisconsin? - and that would help when I know a beer was released somewhere and I want to reach out to a past trading partner to see if they can land it.

In "open trades", in which only one side leaves feedback, I would like to be able to delete feedback I left if feedback is not reciprocated. Or unreciprocated feedback is deleted after x number of days. In would seem easier solution that repeats of "please leave me feedback".

Definitely this (please). I actually left good feedback and contacted trader on multiple occasions both asking for feedback in return as well as explaining how to do it. They vanished from this site.

I was thinking it'd be pretty cool if next to beers you "want" there could be a drop down menu of things you have for trade that you could select, sort of as a "what I'd give up for it" type thing. The opposite would also be cool, like listing "what I'd take for it.". This might also eliminate the what's it worth style threads, because you could easily look at the beer and what people want in order to trade it.

As I type this it occurs to me that'd probably be a huge pain to implement.

I've always wished that you could view a brewery's listing of beers, as another user, to see which beers from that brewery that they've reviewed. And yes I realize that you can sort which beers they've reviewed.

I think lack of discussion in the thread leads to more inequity than discussion. By far.

Well then go to the beer trading help/whats my beer worth section to get everyone's input since that seems to be the norm now. I still don't think someone's ISO is the appropriate place to publicly give input or use some emoticon to convey ones feelings on a trade. Just difference of opinion I guess.

No doubt, you and I both know this debate has gone on for many years, and mores have changed, but the reason that the debate ended with the decision to enable replies in ISO is precisely the reason I gave in my reply. Add to this the fairly new phenomenon of folks not liking to use Talk & Help for questions of equitable trade value of beers, and the value to reply in trade threads is obviated.

Yes, we just disagree on this one.
