Bought from different stores in Iowa City today...found it odd the two bottles had the same bottle number. Suppose I'll have to immediately drink them both to further investigate...

Is that a bottle number, or is it a time stamp?

I'm not familiar with with GI's bottle dating system.

I do not believe those are bottle numbers.

They are lot numbers.. bottles aren't individually numbered but for quality control purposes are given a 'lot' (or batch) number.

Ahh, all this time I was under the impression that was an individual bottle number

More importantly, lucky you for being able to get 2 bottles of cherry rye

Definitely, quite thankful to have had the question...I was bummed to not find it around Chicago the day after Thanksgiving, glad GI sent some to my home away from home. I'd say it's pretty comparable to the amount of KH that made it's way to Iowa last year.
