Was offered a Hunahpu for Cherry Rye straight up. Thoughts on if this passes the reasonableness test?

    Cheers!

If you're both happy, then it's a good trade. Don't worry about winning.

Personally I'd do it, because having had both, Huna is better. But thats my palate.

Kmello, I completely agree with you and my objective is not "winning" a trade but rather making sure I'm using my limited assets wisely. I'm very new to the trading community so I'm trying to get educated as I go. I totally understand the concept of being happy with a transaction and honestly it's important to me that the person I trade with is happy as well. I'm sure someone would be happy getting a BCBS in a trade because they like the beer but I don't think they'd be happy finding out after the fact that they gave up something that would've got them a BCBS variant.

This is why I'm reaching out to you savvy beer trade vets.

I do appreciate the feedback and if you have any other advice please share.

    Cheers!

I'm sure you could get more then just a huna for a cherry rye, but I'm with kmello huna taste better so I would do that trade.

You could ask for Huna+. I think it would be fair to ask for something else, although then $4$ might get skewered (I dont know how much Cherry originally sold for). Huna plus other locals or Huna plus another CCB product would be totally fair to ask.

Just to add to the above...I did this exact trade (my Cherry Rye for a Huna 1:1). It was IP, so it was convenient and saved on shipping. Also, I agree that Huna tastes better to me. Could you get "more" tradewise? Probably, but I thought it was fair.

    This.
    And this.

If you're intent on Huna and they're intent on Cherry Rye, I agree that the trade would probably be more even if it was Huna+

Well if that is the case know that they're both approximately similarly released beers of a limited nature with a similar rough approximate bottle count and difficulty to acquire. By all means, yes it's a fair trade.

I think that's a fine offer OP. The thing to remember is beer karma does exist. That is a generous offer but I'm sure at some point someone will be generous to you. It's also a good feeling that you hooked someone up IMO.

I have done this multiple times although not any recently. Huna is yearly and cherry the was once and done until further notice. I think it's pretty fair though.

It's a fair trade if you get something you want to drink for something you don't want to drink. Worrying about maximizing the value of your beer is what's wrong with the ISO/FT forums these days. It's beer not an investment. Maybe this year you give up your hype whale for a lesser Hunahpu and next year the same guy sends you Hunahpu for Indiana shelf turds because you established a relationship with the guy thats not about winning, but sharing good beers that the other guy cant get.

I did this last year. I sent GI Cherry, 2x BCBS, and NEBCO IST for Huna and Moat Water and we both sent some great extras. I think we were both pretty damn happy. Good luck.
