    Hi Guys,

I am new to using a chest feezer as a cellar, and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions. Should I be looking for frost free or manual defrost?

Any specific models/sizes that you guys recommend?

I've heard you need to use something called Damprid, is any other maintenance required?

Any other advice you could offer would be appreciated.

    Thanks in adavnce.

I had to keep it cheap, so I searched CL for awhile until I found a nearly brand new 14.9cuft GE chest freezer for 100$. I don't have any experience with a frost free, it would probably be a better option albeit much more expensive.
I have a digital temperature controller (50$ - ebay) set to 50 with a 4 degree swing and ice has never former in my chest freezer. Instead condensation collects, therefore I have 2 cheap damp rid bowls that work wonders. There's a towel at the bottom of my chest freezer that has never been the slightest bit moist.

    Altogether I spent 175$ and it's holding 190 bottles (126 - 12oz, 16 - 375mLs, and 48 - 750mLs).
