    Hey all,

Im headed to Chester for a couple of days from Houston Texas for work and plan to stop by Chester Beer and Wine.

Got any suggestions on what I should grab to take back to the states? Oddly enough if their list is up to date I plan to grab some US stuff that I cant get in Texas but and also interested in some Belgian and English brews that I should keep an eye out for.

From my bit of research some of the things listed on their site that seem like good choices are Thornbridge Bracia, Thornbridge Oatmeal Stout, Moore Fusion, Marble Decadence, Marble 1888 Gingerbread stout, and some Pannepot. What am I missing?

For a bit of direction I enjoy barrel aged stouts/porters, sours, and wild ales. Not really all that interested in IPA/Pale Ales since I can get fresh stuff in Texas that I enjoy.

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Anything by Moor or Thornbridge will be good. If you like darker beers and want Moor, look for the Amoor porter.
Buxton too, keep an eye out for Tsar.
Hook Norton Double Stout is nothing amazing but worth a try if there's nothing else that catches your eye.
Moorhouses Black Cat for a nice mild.
Purple Moose Ysgawen is one of my favourites - made with elderflower so its pretty unique and made for the summer so it'll be fresh!
Also Wincle - Bevis likes them I believe

    Enjoy your time in Castra!

YEs, I do like Wincle and yes it is available in Chester
    http://www.corksout.com/chester

When it comes to Wincle you really do have to try the Old Hag, which is a excellent porter
and also (though unlikely to be available) their Christmas ale
: Wassale (which I am sure I sent CwrwAmByth as part of a trade)
with all of their beers being bottle conditioned don't discount their other wares
they do a light mild (Bad Bill) & though a pale ale I heartily recommend Wincle Waller
which you will find pleasantly different.

They also stock Tatton Ales which are above average and a few other North West of England beers.
I might chirp up again if I can find out/remember anything else

Just out of interest when are you going to be there?

Try and get to the Marble Arch itself in Manchester City centre then
even if you can't stop for an actual cask pint (which would be a huge shame)
you can grab some Marble bottled beer there.

Yep wassale for a tiny rebel hot box and a batemans vintage fresh from Aldi :stuck_out_tongue:

oh and you can swing through Altrincham town centre (which is in the right direction)
    where you will find
    http://www.biercell.co.uk/
Who stock Red Willow (they had a beetroot stout when I last looked)
    alongside some Buxton & Thornbridge

oh and if you do make it to corks out and they have it - Haymaker
more subtle fruit flavours than US pales and a classic British bitter kick
