I know its early but i will be up in Chesterville Me. area around late Aug. For about 2 weeks. can anyone tell me of any good beer bars or places to buy a case of beer at in that area i know its remote. I will be traveling from Philly driving any ideas of must stops along the way. I was thinking stopping in Portland.
I Google-mapped your trip (roughly), and Portland wouldn't be too far out of your way. I'd certainly hit up Novare Res (if it's later in the day, I don't think they open until 3 or 4) or the Great Lost Bear. In terms of a bottle shop, RSVP is only a mile or so further up the road from the Bear. If you can get further up the coast, Lion's Pride in Brunswick is one of the best beer bars outside of Boston. It would be easy to cut back towards Chesterville from there. You'll also pass through Lewiston/Auburn, home of Baxter Brewing. Might be able to pop in for a tour if you let them know you're coming.
great thanks i will start checking into those reccomendations. As of right now i have one stop planned in The Portsmouth Brewery, New Hampshire's
No too far from me. Looking to hit some bars or tours? May be worth looking at Ebenezer's in Lovell Me. Ill give you some more ideas too.
Thank you i never been up in the area. Joppa suggested the Lost Bear Bar i checked its web page out and i am making that a stop also i was thinking about Allagash Brewery.
If you time it correctly right next to Allagash is Rising Tide (who is moving at some point), Maine Beer, Gearys, and Bull JAgger
Shoot me a BM when you are heading to Portsmouth if you want to meet up for one or three, I'm only a few minutes away. Lost Traveler, invite extended.
Unfortunately Chesterville is kind of the middle of nowhere; spent a few summers in that area. Farmington is about 20 minutes away, and has a little more going on. Check out the reviews on here for Ron's Market. Its a quarter mile from my parents house and I never knew about it. Found it here on BA; surprising selection. Nothing wrong with drinking on a lake.
