Anyone been in there in the last week or so? Are they closing or is there some change going on?

I went to do the usual Magruders/CC visit last Thursday. Magruders was fairly busy for a Thursday at dinner time.

Chevy Chase on the other hand was quite literally empty. I was the only customer in the store at 6pm. The beer shelves were at best half full, with whole sections completely empty. There was essentially nothing in the way of new/current releases, anything that was actually there was old shelf stuff. Anyone know what gives?

I haven't been there in years. Long time ago, it was about the only place in DC where you could find unusual imports and craft brews. Nowadays, they're no longer in a class of their own.

I know their long-time beer buyer retired recently (last year I think) so that could have something to do with it. I also rarely find anything really good there -- in DC proper, the best bottle shops are Whole Foods P St., followed by Conn Ave Wine & Liquor, and D'Vines/De Vinos.
