Just heard about this and was on the site. Looks like quite a few breweries, unfortunately due to my sons basketball won't be going. Has anyone been or anyone going? Just curious
There was an article I saw this week (not sure how current it was) about the influx of craft beer related events/tastings over the past few years. It pointed out how some of these events are driven with the promise of great beers, while disguising their true interest of getting you drunk (so you think you had a good time) on low cost, low quality craft and turning a quick profit. Wish I could find the article. Anyway, I'm not saying this event is one of those, but if hundreds of beer advocates haven't chimed in and told you its a good time, do your research before wasting your money. Cheers!
I get emails about this constantly. One of them had a beer list. Most of it was from breweries that people like us don't patronize much, but there were a few exceptions. The highlights were VR and BBPt5 plus maybe half a dozen others. No idea how accurate it was or how fast those kegs will blow before you're drinking mediocre shelfies.
Those were the highlights I remember seeing, as well. I've never had BBPt5, so I was a little curious there.
Personal opinion: regular Plead the Fifth is better. I wouldn't recommend going to an event specifically for it.
Personal opinion, bbpt5 blows regular out of the water, although I totally agree, don't go to an event specially for it. BBPT5 trades pretty easily given the high limits (2 cases) on release day. If you are from Illinois, you should have no trouble trading for some.
