Hello all, I will visiting Chicago for a bachelor party in mid-April with about 8-10 guys. We were looking to do a few beer-related stops (i.e. bars, breweries, etc..) while in town. Looking for advice on breweries to hit up and bars as well. I have looked at Revolution, Half Acre, GI Taproom and what not, however wanted a local's POV as far as what offers the best experiences. Thanks ahead of time for any/all input! Cheers, Mike.
All good spots and pretty close to one another, but far from Polekatz. I've found a few hidden gems up at the Globe Pub as well.
For a bachelor party, I'd plan an IN day. Three Floyds/18th Street > riverboat(s) > Industrial Strip. If you start early enough, rinse/repeat.
Had my bachelor party in Chicago. You've got a good start. I liked Map Room and Kuma Burger when we were there.
I'd agree with this. Especially if you'll be here for more than just one day (and assuming you like gambling and ballet).
The Rev and GI taproom should be great. I love Half Acre but it can get a little crowded for 10, especially since they just opened a kitchen. Haymarket is a local place that's downtown in the west loop and most likely on your way to or from the Goose taproom. Great food and beer and Kaiser Tiger is a excellent near by beer bar. I don't know if you're interested in going a little out of your way but the Lagunitas tap room is really a sight to see.
Here's the way I would do it. Start at Bangers and Lace for lunch. Go to Half Acre during the day before it gets crowded. Head over to Emporium or Logan Arcade for some pinball and old school arcade games. They also have a great tap list. Hit Up Revolution pub for dinner. It's also close to the highway so you can then head on down to polekatz. If you're still standing, you're in the south side already, so go to Maria's.
My bachelor party consisted of the same breweries you've mentioned plus some others on here. We started at Revolution because they also have good food, but show up/start early because it fills up on a weekend in no time. Once you've built up a good base, head over to Half Acre for a few pints. Afterwards we headed to the GI taproom for some more food because we were hammered and some more beer because we were thirsty. Maproom is a solid bar with a great bottle/tap list. Semi-near Maproom was Local Option which is kind of Chicago's version of 3 Floyds. If you're trying to stay in one spot for a while, Lagunitas is a sweet place to hang out/ tour/ drink some brewery only stuff.
