My buddy is flying to Chicago for a week and he's willing to bring me back some brews from the area. Any recommendation of what I should ask for . So far I only have BCBS , but is it available this time of year ? I'm looking for some imperial stout or barely wine that I can age . Thoughts please.

    Thanks guys .

If you can give location of bottle shops that would be greatly appreciated too.

Anything from Revolution or Half Acre. I have yet to try all the brews but haven't been disappointed. If he has a little extra time I highly recommend he go to Three Floyds. It's not more than an hour drive depending on where in Chicago he is, and it's definitely the premier brewery of the area. Check out there websites for info on what's available to carry out.

Pipeworks, Flesk, and spiteful are great haves as well.

Binny's on Marcy street should be able to take care of you.

I will second revolution and .5 acre. Anti-hero and daisy cutter cans FTW. Also, PIPEWORKS, their beers are awesome.

    Pipeworks, Pipeworks, Pipeworks.

Great beer, great variety. You can find their beers in a very good amount of stores. I was slow to hop on board but I have been trying every beer they put out now.

Revolution's Very Mad Cow is tasty and is readily available.

BCBS is not readily available this time of year.

I would agree with the Revolution recommendation. 3rd Year Beer (Barleywine) and Very Mad Cow (BA Milk Stout) can be found in some stores. They're boxed, so they are easy to spot. Anti-Hero IPA is a winner as well.

Get your hands on some Pipeworks. Coffee Break Abduction has been around this week. Citra Ninja is supposedly out there as well. Two of their best.

If you see Citra Ninja grab it! I had it last night and it is top notch IMO!

Do some research for particular beers, availability may be limiting, but I suggest: Pipeworks, Spiteful, 18th Street, Revolution, Half Acre. If growlers are a option: Haymarket and Dryhop.

Good call. Unicorns Revenge is out again too. Pipeworks and Revolution is my direction.

Thanks to this thread I was able to snag a few things while Ive been in Chicago! I would love to find some Other Pipeworks Bombers, I had Citra Ninja once and would love the other Varieties, Its a business trip so the lunches and Dinners are unfortunatley already scheduled, at certain places. Anyone know where I can Find Ninja Vs. Unicorn, and possibly some Resin? [IMG]
