I don't even care for much of their beer, but I'll second this. Best brewery food I've ever had and it's a place every beer nerd should visit once.

Also, I've never been mistreated in the 15+ times I've been there...it seems to me if you treat the staff with respect you'll get it in return.

Oh yeah. There was never a question. I'm going to 3 Floyds. You don't have the Warpigs Lingonberry Sour in Copenhagen and then not go to 3 Floyds.

Good to know they get busy though. I guess we should shoot to get there early on Sunday, maybe.

Keeping an eye on the taplist at Revolution Brewpub and the brewery (these are two different locations) certainly wouldn't be the worst idea you could have. I would say there are at least a few contenders from the Deep Woods series this year that may approach "mind blowing."

Sorry. I meant to put them on my list also. So my list is shaping up to be:

Definites: FFF, Off Color, Une Annee, Mikerphone, Marz, 18th St., Forbidden Root, Corridor

Check tap-list: Revolution, Half Acre, Hopewell

Worth checking out if I'm nearby: Dovetail

Bars/bottle shops: Tap Leaf, Beer Temple

Prob skip: Local Effect, Goose Island, Whiner, Band of Bohemia, Pipeworks, Illuminated, Old Irving, Begyle, Empirical, Spiteful

Thanks so much, ya'll. This has been super helpful!

I would put Rev, Half Acre and Goose in the “musts” personally. I think they’re far and away the 3 best breweries the city has to offer, and head and shoulders above places like Marz and Cooridor - and I like those places. But fooridor especially is pretty one note, and definitely a cooler spot if you’re a local looking for a beer or place to eat.

    I prefer Corbidden Root...

That being said, why do you think Goose is a must? The Taproom? The brewpub used to be my Chicago fave before the reno, but now they have nothing I want to drink since it is all Inbev shelf turds.

I find it interesting there are so many recommendations for Marz, but their taproom isn't even open yet. I like some of their beers and realize they probably have a variety of styles in line with the OP's preferences, but shouldn't we wait to see if it is actually a solid place to go before putting it on any "must" list?

I'd agree that Revolution and Half Acre are "musts", but perhaps they don't fit in line with the OP's style preferences.

I think the sours from HA are the best the city produces.

I've heard that as well (they're not really my jam, so I don't opine on them). My comment about HA not being along the styles OP was looking for is that it seems like HA doesn't consistently have many of them based on my visits there. So, maybe that's why they are more of a "check the tap list" option. For me, they are a must visit.

I give Off Color that title until someone proves me wrong with something better than Papillon.

I’m with you on that, but the peach wild at HA is crazy good. Might take the top spot.

I'd certainly get there on the early side. There's typically a line to get in. The tap room/ restaurant is not the biggest.

Thanks guys. A lot of this is definitely my specific tastes - If I cared about drinking lagers or DIPAs, this would be a totally different search. I have no doubt Half Acre makes great beers - we can get several of them here in PA; I just never have any interest based on style. I will DEFINITELY look to see if sours are available though (hence the "check list" designation for me, personally).

Def good to know about 3Floyds filling up. Would not have thought that with it being outside the city a good bit. I remember getting to Russian River at 11:15 AM on a Sunday and waiting an hour to get in the door. I'd prefer not to repeat that.

I've been kinda wondering if I need to check out Goose Island, but assumed exactly that - they won't have anything I will care about drinking. Lolita, Sofie, etc are all fine...and available locally.

Just yesterday I saw a Marz hibiscus gose here. Maybe I'll get one and use that to judge how crucial a visit is.

I'm thinking I may also stop at Metropolitan, purely because that taproom on the water looks like a super chill place to sip a beer and read.

If you don’t care about IPA’s, you can probably cross cooridor off the list - they do them extremely well, but henorger stuff is pretty standard. Honestly, same thing with Mikerphone. However, definitely make sure you hit up Hopleaf.

It’s a bar, not a brewery, but is one of the best bars in the city, and they specifically specialize in Belgian beers.

Anyone else notice how these threads get pretty nice treatment around here? I post this type of shit in nearly any other area and it gets minimal feedback.

Ohio folks treated me pretty good once when I asked. TN BAs gave a few responses that were helpful. But yeah, I've actually been kinda surprised no one has been a party pooper yet. There's always one in the bunch. Especially on here.

It turns out we all really like talking about beer and are proud of what's being made locally. I'm a big fan of Chicago, through and through.

I disagree on Corridor. I think they make some fine other beers. Big Slice, Rapunzel and more. I think Wizard Fight is a solid IPA, and they do some good stuff with Belgian styles (even if those aren’t the style many others like).

F**k you guys and anyone else who thinks I have time to give them advice. :astonished:
